Guides to Spells Beyond What's Been Done

Dec 27, 2008 19:14:44 Treantmonklvl20, Tsuyoshi, and CantripN have done great work in describing and ranking arcane spells from a limited set of 3.x books. Their work is excellent and I use their good work regularly. You can find it here. http://forums.gleemax.com/showpost.php?p=14403549&postcount=2 I'm wondering if there has been much work done in an organized manner beyond the limited set of books. It strikes me that CO boards are a good place to do this work. I know that I'm not qualified. But I'm wondering if some others have started this work or would be interested in doing so.

Your idea is still valid but "Core" is very inaccurate because the Spell Compendium has so many spells. You (or whoever volenteers for the project) could still do a helpful guide to all other books though.

Also, Cantrip's guide omits no books I think.....

That's great. If the work has already been done, there's no need to repeat it. Could you suggest some links? That would be most helpful.

Jan 04, 2009 3:59:40 I've done every enchantment spell in the game in my enchanting guide (in my sig) ... not sure if there is anything equivalent.

Jan 06, 2009 1:40:31 I'm currently writing a guide akin to the Enchanter Guide, except for Evocation. It's a huge undertaking, so it's taking a while, but it'll get done eventually. I'm guessing 2 or 3 posts per spell level until the 8th level ones.

I'm also noting Paladin Spells that do well for an Evoker because of my favourite Evoker PrC - Silver Pyromancer.

Beyond that, Illusion has been done to death (I might press a friend who's playing a SCM to add the esoteric ones he's using, though).

For Conjuration, here's a little new "secret" - Vuur (MM5? 4?) are WAY beyond SMIV in power, and you can get them with it.

It took me a minute to find them, I was about to ask you where the heck they were. They're Voor and they're on page 193 of the MM4 under the Yugoloth entry.

That's a nice find, 6 natural attacks, reach, lot's of immunities, medium/low SR, rend, combat reflexes, blindsense 120, aligned DR, and a high grapple check. Well worth it as a combat summon in the 7-11 range. Nice find.
