Going to use Lance, and the feats Mounted combat, Ride-by Attack and Spirited charge, probably going to start around 6th lvl. Can't decide what class to use, any other feats or magic items (purchasable at that lvl). please help/comment! |

| #4GrummanJun 21, 2009 11:21:05 | As Cru hinted, the traditional halfling knight is the supermount build, using Devoted Tracker to give your mount the benefits of being both a Paladin Special Mount and Druid/Ranger/Beastmaster Animal Companion, and using the Halfling Outrider class to advance both abilities at the same time. Even with only half a dozen levels invested this way, you can easily get a mount with more HD than you. If you try hard enough, you can combine the supermount, ubercharger and dragoon concepts into one character. There are a few threads on the idea, just search for "supermount". |
| #5chimerusJun 21, 2009 16:50:48 | well, as far as I know, no books are not allowed, although third party books are probably off limits. Thought about using a Tome of Battle class instead of fighter. the charge feat chain is in the base phb. I was looking to optimize my damage, through lance + spirited charge = x6 damage on a charge! (if Ive got it right). Not really looking for a mount better than the char, although i would like it to stay alive. My Dm said that if I use a dino as an animal companion if druid or ranger, didnt say if dino could be pally special mount. Oh, also though about using scout or rogue, as lance and spirited charge multiply damage dealt. |
| #6GrummanJun 21, 2009 17:28:22 | I was looking to optimize my damage, through lance + spirited charge = x6 damage on a charge! (if Ive got it right). No, Spirited Charge increases the multiplier from x2 to x3. If you can get a Valourous weapon (from one of the Faerun books) it increases to x4, and the Rhino's Rush spell from the Spell Compendium increases it again to x5. Multipliers are based on the base number, they don't multiply your previous multipliers as well. My Dm said that if I use a dino as an animal companion if druid or ranger, didnt say if dino could be pally special mount. The core Eberron book says yes. Oh, also though about using scout or rogue, as lance and spirited charge multiply damage dealt. It doesn't multiply additional damage like sneak attack, and Skirmish damage doesn't work when mounted anyway. |
