| #1the_antigamerJun 08, 2010 4:47:10 | Here's the setup. A relatively high-powered game I'm joining has these rules: • You've got the experience points of a 6th-level character to use as you like. • Standard 6th level wealth -1000 gp. • All 3.5 base classes and prestige classes from 3.5 Wizards material are permitted, although alternate class features need to be run by the DM first. Homebrew is allowed on a case-by-case basis, defaulting to "permitted". No Lightning Warrior. Multiclassing and prestige classes permitted provided you straight-up qualify for them, without using rules loopholes. • You can have a free LA of up to +4, but no racial HD. For every point of LA you drop, you get an extra 4 points in the point buy. Stay LA +0 and you get a bonus feat. • 28-point buy (but see above) for ability scores. • You may have as many traits as you like, but a maximum of two flaws (and DM must clear them, so no picking harmless or trivial flaws). I've never played a druid, so I'd like to try playing as one, preferably an anthro bat as I have ideas for rping it, but if a better suggestion is made, I'm willing to consider switching. Planning on using the planar druid substitution levels. My current plan: Woodling Anthromorphic bat druid, with the planar druid substitution levels. Thoughts? Is woodling a good idea? If so, should I grab one more LA or stick with +3 LA and use the skill points? Can I somehow make myself an ironwood woodling? Thanks in advance for ideas/help/guidance. |

It's +1 LA and gives you fast healing 3, pounce, +2 con, +2 wis, and some things that you'd lose when you wild shape. If you can be evil, Lolth-touched is good. It's +1 LA and gives you +6 con. (It also gives +6 str, but you lose it when you wild shape.) |

I don't think you'd lose any of what it grants when you Wild Shape, and it offers a lot... Take the Magic in the Blood feat to expand the number of uses you get out of your PLAs. |
| #4the_antigamerJun 08, 2010 11:25:31 | I was looking at feral, i think it's a front runner if I do another template. Don't want to be evil, so lolth-touched is out. While pherenic does look good, I don't think I want to be psionic with this character. Thanks for the suggestions so far! |

Well... half-fey is about as good as far as the Spell-like abilities it grants. It also grants winged flight, which I thought it would be a shame to lose while wildshaped, though. It might fit better thematically, however. Although not normally worth it, you might look at half-celestial/fiend, also. |
