#1 otovulf May 28, 2010 18:11:44	Im new to the D&D scene and I wondered if people could me.  I will be playing in a all dragon party, but we are stuck in normal racial forms.   The dragon I have is silver. Btw we are starting level five.   What classes can turn me into the perfect mix of awesome for this game. I can prestige.  Any help would be awesome.

Do you get the extra hd, specials, breath weapon from the dragon? If so, which age dragon? Or do you use draconic or half-dragon templates? Or is the dragon-thing pure a role-play aspect? More info please!

#4 otovulf May 31, 2010 15:20:46	We are young dragons that are taking humaniod form to leave the dragon lands in our story.  We have the normal stats of a dragon that age (i.e. Silver dragon yound is 13 HD) plus the five class levels.  So we will have alot of HP.  We have all the abilities of a dragon that age.  We advance in age and size by having hoards.  We can change between forms, but we are going into places that dont know or even understand dragons. I kind want to be a monk cleric that prays to bahumut or Io.  Help with feats items and varients of monk or cleric. or if my idea is wacko and you have a better one would be nice.  Heavy roleplay is required of us.

Also, If a I were to try and go the sacred warfist route, how would I set up for that?   Where is Theurge from, what book?  Thank you though, ideas are what I need.  My dm told me, that we have the normal base land speed for the form we are in.  Should I take a feat the is open to me?   My dm said this counts is all forms.  And also that the armor does not change with us between forms. #8 otovulf Jun 01, 2010 17:19:51	Versatile Caster he is ok with nw, i explained it and showed it to him.  I dont fully understand it either.  I like gold dragons too.  I was gonna use fog making items to to attacks around them as a silver.  We can not use our breath weapon unless we take a feat that lets us.  So my human form cannot do the breath awesome stuff.  But I like your first idea alot, other then the heighten spell, what would that be for? And items I was going to look at were oil flasks.  See three of the dragons in the party will be gold or red.  I think another is being a shadow dragon.  I plan on being a lawful neu. since our dm just told us it could be what ever we want.  How doyou feel about battle dragons?  Also we must hide for the most part we are dragons from people. I wonder what kind of fam. my sorc will have.  will the fam. get the ability to give touch attacks with the theurge build because of the feats.  And what do you think of the speed feat.  You seem to have personal tastes, and I like that you add those in with the nonbiased stuff.  It lets me think that there are differences to this.   And who would my favored soul pray to is still something im thinking about.    If you have to build a char what would you personal build?  We startout with 18k and we can be any dragon that is decently smart and classes from pretty much any book. we will be playing for a while in our current game and this game wont start til later this summer. I wont steal your idea But I like the monk theurge thing alot

Prerequisite: Ability to spontaneously cast spells. Benefit: You can use two spell slots of the same level to cast a spell you know that is one level higher. For example, a sorcerer with this feat can expend two 2nd-level spell slots to cast any 3rd-level spell he knows.
#10 urpriest Jun 01, 2010 22:53:40	As for the Gold Dragon, if everyone in the group was choosing dragon type purely mechanically they'd all stick with Gold Dragons, as they have the most hit dice, etc. I'd say stick with Silver: it's almost as powerful as Gold, and it's more interesting if people are different dragon types.

#13 urpriest Jun 08, 2010 17:23:29	The Heighten Spell/Versatile Spellcaster trick seems very cheesy, but here's my understanding of how it's supposed to work: Mystic Theurge requires you be able to cast 2nd level arcane and divine spells. A Heightened 1st level spell is a 2nd level spell (basically), so with one level of Sorceror/Favored Soul you "know" a 2nd level spell. You can't cast it, however, since you don't have 2nd level spell slots. This is where Versatile Spellcaster comes in: Versatile Spellcaster lets you sacrifice two 1st level spells to cast a 2nd level spell that you know. Since you "know" Heightened 1st level spells, you can cast one of those, so you can cast 2nd level spells. Thus you can take Mystic Theurge. This is very silly and seems to involve very twisty interpretations and as such I would never allow it in one of my games...but if your DM and you are both cool with it, you might as well go for it.
#14 otovulf Jun 10, 2010 2:23:49	Oh ok.  Thank you.  Thats pretty cool.  My idea wer toward a monk/sorc but I like the idea of of a theurge.  But I still wish I had the experiance of this.  I wanna break the game and be even more overpowered then my other dragon party members.  My goal is, unlike the one other time I played, to be useful and someone that is respected.  Ill have my own attempts to think and customize stuff  when i play a normal game.  Like I like the shadowsmith from tome of magic, but I don't like  the way is forms and such.  I would like to build a custom class with abilities not a far cry from them but working with ice.  I might make another thread for that.  An Ice smith with spellcasting progression or more uses of the abilities per day.  Egads, that is for another thread, not this one.  Will you get my drift.  I would like help to break this game and we can use any kind of dragon and any books.   And if you got ideas for the help to have a ice smith class, send me a message?  It would be nice to extra minds on the case. The psychoses are awesome, any builds I can see as a good example?  I can see the levels stacking for some seriuos damage.  My dm told us that we awill have some feats given to us for free by giving a story, and I have more to write since I haven't even set on a knid of dragon or a class or classes yet, He is pretty much gonna let us have two extra feats and a free thing like alchemist or herbalist.  If I go the monk/sorc route with that I could have the feat that allows me to not need any matrials ffor my cheaper arcane spells.  I wish more people would post ideas for builds.  I mean the table is open.  What would be the the most broken thing you can think of? or the strangest?   Pretty much all books and stuff.  We have a pyroclastic fighter/warhulk, a tomedragon is think he said sorc/blood mage and a we will have a sorc/ master of shadow varient( instead of a shadow elementak, it will be an earth elemental so it will have con bonuses)  and a shadow dragon roug/assassin(poison master vari) I want to be a monk/Sorc I think And I like the idea of a fang dragon so I can bite with my flurry of blows in dragon form.  And the feat manifest blah blah let me do that in other forms, but only for one thing.  I really wanna see some awesome builds, if nothing else I'll get Ideas from it.  Oh, oneof us is also gonna be a Battle Dragon Pali.
#18 Gavinfox Jun 19, 2010 16:01:41	I would definitely look at one of the three EPIC DRAGONS... Let me say that again. THREE EPIC DRAGONS. Yea. But my personal favorite flavorful build is a Tome Dragon with the wizardly psychoses, and some wizard prestige classes, and an alternate version of spellscale, and a ton of wizard gear, etc. etc.

The mental illnesses are open still.   One of my friends in kinda going apeshit about the spellhoarding.  Problem is we have to eat our hoards to grow in age and size in ur story.  Won't his hoard be all spellbooks and scrolls?  This stuff is hard.  I mean he is forgeting th negs of it over all.  And also, does anyone have more ideas of builds?  I have no choices made. and Not gonna lie, I haven't a clue about what items to buy or anything.

#23 urpriest Jun 26, 2010 5:34:52	So you could do Gold Dragon/Favored Soul 1/Mystic Theurge 4, which would give you 5th level casting as a sorceror and as a favored soul. You'd need to take Versatile Spellcaster and Heighten Spell (the former after you have some spellcasting and both before your first level of Mystic Theurge). The  monk build isn't bad for your campaign type incidentally...but if you are able to leverage Versatile Spellcaster like this then you might as well do so.
