So a friend of mine wants to try and break something odd - base land speed. I wanna see this happen too - so I ask the community, how can he break base land speed in twenty levels to be as fast as possible?

And I do mean BASE land speed, not the Jumplomat. I'm 100% open to any race, class, feat, template, etc. but I do have a few things I want to clarify:

1. If it's not blatantly obvious what book it's from please cite it.
2. I heavily prefer anything from normal DnD books, not Eberron or Forgotten Realms, and NO magazines of any type.
3. Magic items are nice, but the main focus here is race and more importantly, multiclassing to the point of no return. Monk 20 only adds 90 feet, which to the dwarven fighter sound slike a sonic boom but I bet the real knowledgeable players scoff at it like a passing fart.

So yeah, please help Sonic in his quest for speed. And feel free to help with tactics as well - If we end up in a dungeon full of enemies weak to fire we could literally send him out, he could run for an hour or so and be back with a case of Alchemist's fire. In fact, if danger strikes 1 AoO and he's out of spell range.

Thus far I've had a couple ideas like 2 levels of scout, 1 of barbarian, but outside of that I dunno about base classes aside from an abyssmal 6 levels for CW variant ranger.

Prestige classes are probably without a doubt a must - any and all are welcome.

And yes, those of you who like a 20 level character with 13 classes go nuts and offer as many builds as you can - I love the things the people on these boards come up with.

A Feral (Savage Speices) Shadow Creature (Lords of Madness) Were-Cheetah (MM) Human. Feral give a 10ft boost to land speed, Shadow Creature multiplies your speed by 1.5, and Were-Cheetah gives you a 50ft land speed in cheetah form as well as the Sprint ability (ten times your speed when you run). The total is +5 LA and 3 racial HD and at least 1 class level, assuming Barbarian it comes in at 105ft land speed (cheetah form) at 9th level.

Another option is a Shadow Creature Wyrmling Shadow Dragon (Draconomicon). It has a 80ft land speed and a 150ft fly speed to which you could add the Impoved Speed feat (Draconomicon) for a 10ft boost to land speed and a 20ft boost to fly speed for a grand total of 135ft land speed and 255ft fly speed. A Shadow Creature wyrmling Shadow Dragon has a LA of +5 and 4 racial HD. I think it's worth noting that this dragon can only attack outside his square with his bite and breath weapon neither of which is very powerful (the breath weapon would be if dealt more negative levels or if you could use it often enough).

Ask someone other then me for class level with speed bonuses.

Jumping will still be part of any really high base land speed. Let me see, quick trait, extreme leap skill trick, item of continuous Expeditious Retreat... Y'know, let me just put up a link to one of my really old skirmisher builds, I used a lot of the easy tricks on it.

Totally forgot boots of striding and springing for that one, although it may be a type bonus that conflicts with my expeditious retreat item. Anyway...

Scout and monk both offer increased movement, although I'm not sure how far you'll have to dip. Blade Dancer prestige class doubles your base movement speed.

There's a feat that raises your base speed as long as you're psionically focused.

Uh... I dunno, this has been done before but it's been so long I don't remember anywhere near all the tricks we used.
