| #1demig0dSep 16, 2008 12:38:34 | Hi, i'm gonna be changing character in my current campaign and i've been thinking about a cleric. The thing is that due to story i chose Bane as my deity, leaving me with almost crappy domains (but due to DM fiat, i get 3 instead of 2)and i'm considering Destruction, Evil and Hatred. I'm thinking about DMM[quicken(DM is kinda wierd about persistent)] melee human cleric (point buy 1:1 till 14 14-15-16= 2 each 17=3 18=4 sum=90) STR 14 DEX 8 CON 16 INT 14 WIS 16 CHA 16 Feats (Including 3 DM extras at between levels) : Quicken Spell, Extra Turning, DMM(Quicken), Initiate of Bane, Leadership, Fell Animate, DMM (Fell Animate) I've read the handbook a couple of times and i think i'm on the right track, any suggestions ? EVERYTHING can change except Bane as Deity and Lawful Evil as allignment. Also all the books are allowed Also i'll be going in at 7th and that i'll probably face a Palladin 7/Fist of Raziel 1, any suggestions ? |

That way it opens up Pride and Envy, both decent for Bane priests (hell, anybody). (http://realmshelps.dandello.net/dieties/human.shtml). Personally, I'd go Pride/Envy/Hatred. That qualifies you for Dread Witch (Heroes of Horror) at Cleric 4. You lose a level of spellcasting, but at 8th level, you'll have greater master of Terror, which means your fear spells will work on that dumb paladin. Fearing a paladin is winning as far as I'm concerned, even if you end up dieing. I had a player in an evil campaign I am running play a Cleric of Bane 4/Dread Witch 5/Dreadmaster 10/War Priest 1 (he only had Pride, Hatred, and Domination though) to great effect using the combined synergy of the two PrC's. Eventually, you'll have a significant fear aura that has a bonus to the save DC and even effects anyone normally immune to fear, or immune through a spell. You lose some BAB, since dreadwitch is built like an arcane class, and some hitpoints, but you get divine power from Pride, so you can make up for some of that. |

Excellent advise about the domains, i've already got it approved by my DM :D I've considered Dread Witch but i don't want to lose that level of spellcasting at this point, as i'll be passing on divine power. i'll probably PRC into Dread witch and Dreadmaster as they are both fear based. |

It's Lawful Good only by RAW, but the Inquisition domain and most of the granted abilities are more about LAW than they are about GOOD. Flavor-wise, the Church of Bane/Zhentarim is going through an Inquisition in Zhentil Keep and the Moonsea to root out Cyricists. I allowed it in the same Evil Campaign with the slight change of the Detect Evil Power changing to Detect Chaos. If your DM allows it, you could go Cleric of Bane 3/Church Inquisitor 5/Dread Witch 5/Dreadmaster 7. You gain immunity to charm/compulsion but lose both special cohorts from Dreadmaster as well as the 'fanatical loyalty' thing, which is awesome for Evil chars with Leadership. Alternatively, Cleric of Bane 3/Church Inquisitor 3/Dreamaster 2/Dread Witch 5/Dreadmaster +7 is pretty solid, only losing +2 to your leadership score (which is probably maxed out anyway) and the 2nd special cohort. |
