I need to know where to find my base attack, HP, spell resistance, natural armor, deflection modifier, and arcane spell failure for a gnome bard. I have the PHB but I don't know where to look to find these because, as I said, I'm relatively new to DnD. |

Bards do not have arcane spell failure chance unless they wear medium or heavy armor. The chance is given in the table for the various types of armor. Hitpoints are determined by your Hit Die and Constitution modifier. A bard has d6 Hit Dice. For first level, take the maximum hitpoints you could roll (6) and add your Constitution modifier. Every level thereafter, you roll a d6 and add the modifier, then add the total to your hitpoints. (Unless your DM says otherwise.) Spell resistance and natural armor are not granted by the gnome race. Unless you receive an effect that grants you one of these things, your spell resistance and natural armor bonus are 0. Deflection is a type of AC bonus that some spells grant. You do not automatically have one. And for future reference, this would be more appropriate in another forum. |

I need to know where to find my base attack, HP, spell resistance, natural armor, deflection modifier, and arcane spell failure The short answer is flick to page 315 and use the index. The long answer, flick to the bard section on page 26 and you read through the entire entry. You will find a table with you saves and BAB (base attack bonus) there as well as any special benefits you get at each level. Remember that the text *overrides* the table always so always go by the text and not the tables. You will also find in the text what dice you roll for your hit points. Your natural armor always starts at 0 and then you add (or deduct) any racial modifiers as well as bonuses. Your modifiers you will find in the section dedicated to your race, in this case Gnomes which c |

As a rule of thumb, start with the basic sections in the book on the class and race you're interested in. If something isn't mentioned there, such as Natural Armor or Deflection, you don't have it unless you add something new to a character. You should probably try and take the time to read through the PHB, it will help you get familiarized with all the basics of D&D. Welcome to the game, don't let all the rules overwhelm you. If you have a good DM, all you really need to know to start is roll high, and have fun! :D |
