System: 3.5

Books: Core and Splat including BoED

Race: Human

Stats: Any Order 14, 18, 12, 16, 13, 10  (Adjustable through point buy)

Level 6:

Background: Our cleric is no longer available and we need one.  I am looking for help on creating a character that can act as the only cleric in an undead heavy game.  He should not be equipment independent outside of mundane stuff.   I am looking for a solid balanced build caster, melee, turner (in that order if needed.)   I checked out the cleric handbook and that has me thinking right but I was hoping one of you all had formulated a successful balanced build.   I foresee the character getting to about 15th level so a build up to 6th and then beyond would be most appreciated.

In an undead heavy game, I'd be tempted to optimize turning itself. Here is a guide on that: community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758...

Just taking the Sun domain and going into Radiant Servant (that's the one that gives you more Greater Turnings per day, right?) would be a start.

Divine Metamagic (Chain Spell) plus Reach spell might be something to consider, also. You could toss out Reach-Chained Cure spells to simultaneously heal your allies and harm your (undead) enemies. DMM: Chain Spell is also nice for buffing allies with things like Greater Magic Weapon (once you hit 7th level), and debuffing enemies with things like Dispel Magic.
