Help optimize my Favored Soul

Apr 27, 2009 14:39:19 To start off, for the campaign I'll be playing in the DM has a ban on all PHB Classes & Races, the prior for flavor, the later due to extinction within the setting, as well as the corresponding racial variants. Since I wanted to play a divine caster, Favored Soul seemed like the logical way to go. After much looking around for an LA 0 race with a bonus to CHA, I came across the Hellbred race and got it approved by my DM. Funny enough, Hellbred fit thematically with a Favored Soul, if Paladin isn't an option. Where I'm having a problem is deciding how to spend feats. I am leaning towards a martial based approach, using his divine powers to strengthen himself and aid his allies I'm decided on my starting feats but where I'm caught up on is what melee enhancing feats are worthwhile for characters tight on feats. Below are the feats I'm dead set on. I'll list some other relevant information as well

Chosen Deity: Kord

Stats created with 32 point buy
STR: 14
DEX: 14
Con: 12 after racial
Int: 8
Wis: 12
Cha: 18 after racial

I'm willing to change the stats around as need be.

Feats:
Level 1(Class Feat), Weapon Proficiency Greatsword
Level 1, Sacred Vow
Level 1(Flaw), Vow of Poverty
Level 3(Class feat), Weapon Focus Greatsword

Level 1(Exalted Feat from VoP), Nymph's Kiss
Level 2(Exalted Feat from VoP), Nimbus of Light

Feats I'm considering picking up along the way Power Attack/Cleave/Supreme Cleave, Monkey Grip, Improved Critical, Improved Toughness and Melee Weapon Mastery & Slashing Fury.

Due to my fairly limited number of feats, I'd like to detail my plan out now, as opposed to later. By the way, the starting level is 3 and I'd like the character to keep an impact through out the campaign.

Also, I'm considering applying the Saint template, eventually, and I'm wondering at what level would it be most beneficial to add it? The template itself has already been approved by the DM.

If you need any additional information, feel free to ask. I'm allowed to use MOST of the 3.5 books.

Apr 27, 2009 16:01:23 you do realize the a VOP means you cant use a Greatsword?

this can be Optomized.... but not like this.... to use a Greatsword with a VOP... you will need to take levels of Soulknife

Apr 27, 2009 16:10:06 As mentioned, VoP is an absolutely terrible feat for your character. Only take VoP if you are a Monk or a Druid.

Apr 27, 2009 16:11:33 Y'anno, I knew that. I'm not sure how I managed to think that Greatsword was allowed with VoP. Well, there goes that idea. Thanks for pointing out something I should've remembered. ;)

Apr 27, 2009 16:47:20 Alternatively, you can just use MoonBlade over a greatsword. It's probably going to be better unless you go charge-core.
