| #1gexterJun 22, 2009 19:49:57 | Well, made a previous thread on ideas about my Tanarukk. That plan for squashed (as I got squashed abit to early into the game to make one) aswell as my friend. We both decided to reroll into something of the same race. So right now we're both Tieflings, he's a swashbucket(?) fighter thing and I am a Ranger. We're level 5 ECL 6. Next level we're both planning on Prestiging into Assasins. My problem - I don't want to be a Ranger anymore. Atleast not YET. What I DO want is to spend all my levels into Druid and thus get Wild Shape. What got me into wanting Druid is the idea of Powerful Wild Shape. In order to get that feat I need the Powerful Built racial trait. My question to my fellow gamers IS. What RACE can I NOW be that gets the Powerful Built racial trait, but at the same time, can be nimble like a ranger/assassin? Powerful Wild Shape (RoS p143) Requirements: Wild Shape class ability, Powerful Build racial trait You can Wild Shape into a Powerful-Build version of a creature you can normally shape into. Powerful Built creatures count as one category larger for the purposes of opposed checks for Bull Rush, Trip, & Grapple; whether another creature’s special attack affects him; and for the purpose of using larger weapons. PS. I am wondering, if I am a 1st level Druid, and a 4th level Ranger, does that mean I get TWO animal companions? |

Although it can Wild Shape into ALOT of differeny animal shapes that would NORMALY take a Druid level after level after level to achieve, considering the small list that is givin, it just doesn't seem worth it, appose to the Sneak Attack I would be getting off of an Assassin Class. Sure, at 2nd level I can turn into an Elephant, however the rules to that are only if I KNOW what it looks like/seen it before. Which in my campaign (Temperate Fores) I havn't. Only thing I can be that is really great is the War Horse, which still doesn't compare to the 3D6 bonus damage I could do as an Assassin. Did my research, is an amazing thought, and I thank you, but since the previous help pointed me to the Ranger varient (Wild Shape instead of Rapid Shot at second level) I can now transfor myself into a Mountain Lion (Temperate Forest, Medium Creature) get the Trip, and even the Improve Grab. All an all, everything looks great. Looking forward to plaything this. Still debating if I want to get Power Attack, and then Leap Attack so I can rush out of the shadows, get my 100% Power Attack on the Flat Footed AC and then get Sneak Attack bonus damage. :') Gasm pls? |

Should say "Some Handy Links". Then hit Ctr + F and type in Master of Many Forms. One of the links you should come to is the MoMF Bible. It has a breakdown of EVERYTHING you can turn into. From giants to huge birds to aberations to freakin DRAGONS. If you get the feat Assume Supernatural Ability from Savage Species, you can even shoot eye rays as a beholder. Also, don't forget about the pretty unassuming forms. You can turn into stuff like birds and scout from above, or reach high windows or other difficult feats. Fly in, turn into a giant and SMASH, and then fly out. People will be all like "wtf? a giant here?" and you'll be all like "hmmm, sounds odd...how would a giant get in there?". Thats bonus style! |

Something like Scout 3/Monk 2/Wildshape Ranger 15 (not all in that order), makes a better assassin than almost any build that includes the prestige class of the same name. |
| #8frostwolfJun 23, 2009 15:11:18 | I don't think you get to wildshape at level 2 with the Ranger variant, as it says "as a Druid", but if I'm wrong, someone please correct me on that ![]() I know of two decent weapons for shapeshifters. Both are from Arms and Equipment guide. The Sickle of talons, and the Khopesh of the Loyal Minion. Both grant their bonuses to your natural weapons when you change your shape. |

Scout 1/Wild Shape Arcane Hunter Ranger 5/Monk 2/Scout +2/Spell Reflection Ranger +10 Would give you Wildshape at 6th, Qualify you for Aescetic Hunter at 9th, Qualify you for Swift Hunter at 12th, and at the end of the build, have Favored Enemy/Skirmish of a 18th ranger, Monk Unarmed damage of a 17th monk, 4th level ranger spells, and animal wildshape of a 15th level druid, all wrapped in a +18 BAB, and above average skills (with all the appropriate sneaky skills), and a d8 average hit dice. Pick the right gear, feats, wildshape forms, and spells, and you'll make an excellent pouncing assassin. Trade out 1 level of ranger for one level of Lion Totem Barbarian, and you don't even need to use cat/dino forms for the pouncing. |
