Ok, so I am hoping for a bi of guidance. I am trying tomake a Beast Heart Adept, I have a rough idea of the build I want but am just havig trouble making it all fit. Books allowed are really just about anything. I have most of them, and if I present the DM with the material and a good reason I can probably get it okayed. A few houserules: We use Action Points, are in Eberron, and any of the feats that grant you +x to 2 skills also make those skills class skills. With that in mind, here is what I have.

Stats were rolled so I can not change them, but I can rearrance them.

Human Rogue5/BHA2 I do like Rogue for 2 reasons. SA, and Trapfinding.

Str 18
Dex 17 (16 +1 from 4th)
Con 14
Int 14
Wis 10
Cha 8

Saves end up being Base of 4/4/4 BAB of 6.

Feats:
Human: Animal Affinity(+2 ride/handle animal req. for BHA)
1st: Exotic Weapon Spiked Chain
3rd: Combat Expertise
6th: Imp. Trip

Skills:

Ranks in Climb, Disable Device, Handle Animal, Jump, Open Locks, Ride, Search, Tumble, UMD

I am debating dropping a level of BHA to pick up a level of Fighter for the bonus feat for Combat Reflexes, however it would hurt me with skills, saves, and the extra BHA class features. Only other route I could think of was to take 3 levels of human paragon instead of Rogue, but that would kill my SA which is the main advantage I have in the build.

I also intend to replace Trap Sense with the ability to SA anything while flanking since I will always have a flanker in the form of my pet.

I also considered Feat Rogue varient, but again I would lose the SA.

I am going to try to see if I can get the DM to allow flaws, even if only 1. But, that is iffy at best.

Would Beguiler/BHA be worthwhile at all? Probably not.

How about Gear? If I take a level of Fighter I can use better armor. Any must haves? Or just standard gear for a rogueish character?

Any suggestions?

I think the best entry into Beast Heart Adept, both mechanically and flavor-wise, would be the Totemist from Magic of Incarnum. Totemists already use Incarnum to take aspects of Magical Beasts, so gaining a couple of such creatures as companions would be right up their league.

But I digress. I think it'd help if you told us what you exactly want to achieve with this build. Seeing as you have Rogue in there I'd assume it has something to do with using your beasties to get you into flanking position or am I completely off here?

As I said, the two things I dont want to sacrifice are the Sneak Attack and the Trapfinding. And while I like the Totemist, for this particular game I would rather play a Rogue.

Any suggestions on gear, that seems to be my biggest stumbling block. Also, is it worth it to drop 1 level of BHA initially to take a level of Fighter for the feat, better armor??

If I take fighter I could use something like Mithral Full Plate with only a slight hit to skills but a far better AC. I also like the idea of getting the extra feat. But not sure if it is worth the set back in BHA levels.
