| #1felgorothNov 12, 2009 12:31:30 | Ok we're going to be playing in Ebberon. As far as books anything is allowed that's from Ebberon, no Dragon. Right now I'm playing around with 2 builds. The 1st focuses on TWF and would be something like this: Elf - Ranger 2/Scout 4/Dervish 10/Tempest 4 (not necessarily in this order) with feats looking something like this: 1: Weapon Finesse F: Dodge F: Mobility B: Two Weapon Fighting 3: Weapon Focus (Scimitar) B: Swift Hunter 6: Combat Expertise B: Spring Attack 9: Improved Two Weapon Fighting 12: Improved Skirmish 15: Greater Two Weapon Fighting 18: Open I like the flavor more behind the second build more the downside is I can't Skirmish Undead. It would focus more on Intelligence and only fight with 1 Scimitar. I really like the idea behind this one but, I'm having trouble making the build. I need to somehow get access to all the Knowledge Skills. I know of a few ways 1 is the Lunatic Insight feat from Heroes of Horror but, that requires you to have someone rub their taint on you. The way I'd like to use is the Draconic Knowledge feat but, it requires you to be a 1st level sorcerer. Here's my idea for the build. Swashbuckler 3/Scout 7/Dervish 10 (this will definitely not be in this order) with feats like this: 1: Knowledge Devotion F: Combat Expertise F: (insert feat to gain all Knowledge skills here) B: Weapon Finesse 3: Weapon Focus (Scimitar) B: Dodge 6: Mobility B: Spring Attack (from the Dervish should be somewhere around here) 9: open 12: open 15: open 18: open |

In any case, be sure to take Midnight Dodge, try and use a Mobility Armor to save a feat, and consider a Martial Monk (Dragon) to get your feats for cheap, as well as flurry with your Great Scimitar (Sandstorm), which counts as a Scimitar, except it's better and 2H. Also, consider a CHA-focus, with perhaps a Bardic Snowflake Wardance (Frostburn), Slippers of Battledancing (DMG2), Marshal (MHB) and Arcane Duelist. |

| #4felgorothNov 12, 2009 16:10:10 | I know you posted a link but, is the Swiftblade in a book? Or is it just online? If only this were gestalt, Sorcerer/Scout and then go into Scout/Swiftblade. I might consider playing 1 instead of a Dervish in this campaign but, I don't know how I'd manage it. As far as the Martial Monk goes, we're not using Dragon in this campaign. For your 1st build what was your class order? In the build I posted your BAB wouldn't be high enough for Improved TWF and Greater TWF when you took them. |

I have a dervish build that doesn't have skirmish dice, but seems to still fare pretty well. I play a human Fighter 6/Dervish 10/Tempest 4 for my build. I hold off on Weapon Finesse until the level before scimitars are light weapons. 1. Fighter 1 [Two-Weapon Fighting, Weapon Focus (scimitar), Dodge] 2. Fighter 2 [Mobility] 3. Fighter 3 [Combat Expertise] 4. Fighter 4 [Weapon Specialization] 5. Fighter 5 6. Fighter 6 [Improved Two-Weapon Fighting, Weapon Finesse] 7. Dervish 1 8. Dervish 2 9. Dervish 3 [Spring Attack, Melee Weapon Mastery (slashing weapons)] 10. Tempest 1 11. Tempest 2 12. Tempest 3 [Greater Two-Weapon Fighting] 13. Tempest 4 14. Dervish 4 15. Dervish 5 [Destruction Devotion] 16. Dervish 6 17. Dervish 7 18. Dervish 8 [Two-Weapon Rend] 19. Dervish 9 20. Dervish 10 Full Base Attack, 12/10/10 for saves before modifiers, and a good amount of bonus damage. Destruction Devotion with a two-weapon fighter is win, too. If you need a lot of skills, you could always take Able Learner, too. I used to with the build, but I just keep dance maxed out while in dervish. Works pretty well. |

| #7felgorothNov 13, 2009 10:33:37 | Ok so I'd really like to play the Dervish that focuses on Intelligence. I have 2 builds for it. I'd like to figure out how I can play the second 1 without taking 2 levels of fighter but, I don't think there's a way to pull it off. The 1st is a Human Paragon 3/Swashbuckler 3/Dervish 10 with these feats: 1: Knowledge Devotion H: Lunatic Insight F: Combat Expertise F: Dodge B: Deadly Defense 3: Weapon Focus (Scimitar) B: Weapon Finesse 6: Mobility B: Spring Attack 9: Einhander? 12: open 15: Bounding Assault 18: open and the 2nd is a Human Paragon 3/Swashbuckler 3/Fighter 2/Dervish 10 with these feats: 1: Knowledge Devotion H: Dragontouched F: Draconic Heritage F: Draconic Knowledge B: Combat Expertise 3: Deadly Defense B: Weapon Finesse 6: Dodge B: Mobility B: Weapon Focus (Scimitar) B: Spring Attack 9: Einhander 12: open 15: Bounding Assult 18: open |
| #8rokuNov 16, 2009 16:22:50 | If you are wanting to play an Elf Dervish in Eberron you may want to think about the Revenant Blade class, the Bladebearer of the Valenar feat, and the Valenar double scimitar. 1.5x STR to both ends of the weapon plus power attack is awesome. Combine with Dervish dance for fun times. |
