Help with a mad character

So from helping SteffiK build G.I.R. as a companion or even a PC I've started to want to play a mad (or crazy for those people that don't know what I mean) character. Something along the lines of G.I.R. mixed with Jack Sparrow mixed with Anton Chigurh mixed with the Joker mixed with the Mad Hatter mixed with the Irish Guy from Braveheart. You know the kooky guy that no one really understands but is very charismatic. Rather than playing a warforged scout (G.I.R.) I'd like to play a little more humanoid possibly with a bonus to charisma and the only things I can think of like that would be a lesser aasimar, a spellscale from races of dragon, or a Gruwaar from Dragon #317. I'm not even sure what class I'd play at this point either. Probably something that relies on charisma and intelligence. I was thinking perhaps a (Copper) Dragon Shaman because I want to play Chaotic Neutral and I'm tired of playing Rogues (I almost always play a Rogue or Scout or a build with one or the other). I'm not necessarily looking for an optimization maybe just a build with 2 or 3 class changes at most. I was thinking of taking Aberration Blood and Scavenging Gullet just to make myself super strange so after battle I might lean over and take a chunk out of the enemy I just killed. I was also thinking of taking the Lunatic Insight feat from Heroes of Horror and giving myself the Hysterical Depravity to meet the prerequisite, it would make it so that my second round in combat I can only make a move action or a standard action because I'm laughing and that I'm trained in all the knowledge skills. Another few classes I was looking at were the Beguiler and the Mountebank (both the prestige class from Complete Scoundrel and the base class from the Dragon Magazine Compendium). I kinda like the (Copper) Dragon Shaman the most but any class would be fun, just give me some insight.

Thanks,

Most of the stuff you describe is just how you role-play the character, and have nothing to do with how to build it mechanically. Decide what role you want it to fill in a party, or what you specifically want it to be able to do, not how you want it to act.

Yes but how the characeter acts has quite a bit to do with what I can play don't you think? I clearly can't play a lawful cleric, knight, paladin, monk or samurai (in any setting according to some people although Rokugan Campaign Setting states otherwise). I clearly can't use the Book of Exalted Deeds or the Book of Vile Darkness. You could've just asked "what function would the character play?" but no you had to do the douchebag thing and be a dick. You could've thought about what the post says and maybe said something based off of one of the characters I said such as "o, Anton Chigurh, maybe you could take some levels in assassin, or o! you mentioned the Dragon Magazine Compendium and the Joker why not look at the Joker base class" but once again a resounding NO thanks man you helped out alot.

Troll

Phaedrus wasn't a dick, he was more or less asking for something mechanical he could work with. All you described that you wanted to play was "Mad", that really doesn't help. Now, because feedings Trolls is looked down upon, I shall bid you adieu

Play a bard

Play a bard

I was thinking perhaps a bard of some sort and I wouldn't so much describe myself as a troll, maybe more along the lines of an agoraphobic grey elf with an affliction that draws ill temperted people that lack wit and sarcasm and concept I was looking for help in general as I said in the original post. I said I didn't know what I wanted to play and was looking for a concept for the character other than just being insane. Thank you for suggesting a bard. You state that Phaedrus wasn't a dick but, if you read his post he went about asking for something mechanical in a way that made him come off as one.

I wanna start by saying I thought you meant MAD character not actually insane.

Friend of mine played a Half Black Dragon Bard, who was chaotic good and insane, as a general rule he would suggest ridiculous things, like lets dig a hole to the next town to stay off the roads.
He also knocked me unconcious with his fiddle because everyone else was hitting me and he thought it looked fun.

These are the kinds of things you will do. Otherwise there are some things in Heroes of Horror that describe insanity, but I am inclined to agree with the others, just build a mechanically sound character and RP him as insane.

oh and look over some stuff from the old Baulders gate game there were two insane characters in that game.

Wisdom is only possessed by the learned.

Man that guy bothered me.

But yeah, as Flawless and Phaedrus stated. Build the character how you want. It's on you to role play it crazy.

sorcerer
Craft alchemy
Mad alchemist feat

Spells that make loud noises would be a specialty
Ghost sound
prestidigitation
mage hand is crucial for stuff like getting a note with exploding runes on it into the mayors window
Arcane mark (cuz every good bad guy needs a calling card)
Color spray
Ventriloquism
Obscure object (there is a bomb hidden in one of the taverns in town, blah blah blah)
Shatter

other stuff along those veins, be creative.

You're lucky I posted anything at all, considering your OP is a big rambling "wall of text". I wasn't actually trying to be a dick in the first post, but I am now. Can you tell the difference?

Seriously... paragraphs make things a lot easier to read. And if you'd thought about what you're asking for and posted a nice summary of it, instead of just posting "stream of consciousness" rambling, it would be a lot easier to decipher what you're actually looking for.

Just about any class in the game (except a LG paladin or monk) could be RPd in the way you're describing. You need to at least decide if you want to be a spellcaster or not, and what role you're going to play in and out of combat. Otherwise we literally have almost nothing to go on here. In general, the rules of D&D are almost entirely centered around combat, and have nothing at all to do with how you roleplay your character.

A very good vile feat that might fit your character would be Insane Defiance, though.

Ok, I'd like to go ahead and apologize for posting a wall of text and giving no idea of what I'd like to do in combat because I really have no idea. I'm not to big on casters although I can play them. I'd almost rather just play a rogue because they get all the skills I want. I really think I'd like to play a Copper Dragon Shaman as a Spellscale but, the minus they get to Con would take away from my breath weapon so I'm not sure and the Dragon Shaman isn't very skill based like I would like to be. I'm kind of looking for a highbrid class like the Mountebank base class but something not from dragon. I was thinking of playing a very deceitful changeling that does things like changing my hand to look leprous and then putting it under my cloak and pulling it out to look normal and say I have great healing powers and then get money for it somehow.

What about a Factotum? They'd work very well for an "evil, mad genius" type of character. They are the ultimate skill monkeys. Most of their abilities are int-based. They have a few spell-like abilities, but are not really spellcasters. A changeling factotum would probably work for you.

Idk lol I think a Factotum is to much of a generalist for me... I'll check it out though because I've never really given them a big look over. I'd really like to make a Neutral character however because I rarely play in an evil campaign (because most people I play with run games that your characters have to do something for the good of everyone or just something that you could do as a good or neutral character)

Evil people can do good stuff. They just do so for different reasons. :D I'd say that Anton Chirugh and the Joker (two of your examples) are very far from being good, also...

But anyway, you should check out the Factotum. Here is a handbook (I don't know if it is any good, but DMs are typically ok at least).

I'd probably go with Changeling Factotum 8/Chameleon 10/X2. The X can be anything. You'll be able to impersonate anyone, and do almost anything.

ya the only reason I said Anton Chigurh and the Joker are because they're very good examples of crazy. The reason I don't think I'd play evil though is because with my luck the DM would do something like have a Lawful Good Paladin or a Lawful Good Monk with Vow of Poverty, Vow of Nonviolence and Vow of Peace join our party and they'd somehow kill me by glaring at me lol
