| #1tevashJul 01, 2008 10:19:59 | Hi. I'm trying to make a melee wizard because i like doing different and original stuff, even if they suck, tho i try to make them good or at least usable. My idea is to start as a wizard till level 5, and then start the Graven One prestige, from from Magic & mayhem (warcraft rpg). Despite the caster levels (like wizards) i get from Graven One, i also get a +4 keen, ghost touch, unholy scythe and a +4 fullplate without penalty to casts. I would also get a 8th level mage or fighter undead minion and the ability to steal any undead's (controlled or created by me) special ability for 24h, consuming it in the process. Generally speaking i want a guy capable of focusing its spellcasting on melee, while attacking with the scythe, using touch attacks and such. The main problem is that i don't know (due to the lack of BAB) if it's doable. I also need help with feats and such, so if u guys have any idea that can help me in this i will be really appreciated. ![]() |

Relating to spellcasting i'm trying to also focus a little on necromancy, since my idea is to use summon undeads and such, to help flank and to allow me to drain some of their special abilities. Two feats i have found wich will make things interesting: Imbue Weapon: Increases spell slot level by 1. You may cast spells with range: Touch (but not ranged touch) on a weapon you are holding. Instead of making a touch attack, make an attack with the weapon (this is likely to be during the next round if the spell was a standard action to cast). If you hit, deal the spell effect and the weapon's damage. If you miss, but would hit their touch AC, then the spell effect still occurs. Imbue Weapon Strike: Requirements: Imbue Weapon Imbue Weapon Increases spell slot level by 2. You can use Imbue Weapon to cast the spell as a move equivalent action so you can attack during the same round. |

I'd take a look at it if I were you. Magic & Mayhem is one of the WCRPG books that I don't own so I can't look up the class, but if your willing to give up the last three levels of the class and wait till 14th to start it, you could always go straight Duskblade up till 13th and then take the suggested PrC from then on in. You'll be able to channel touch spells through full attacks and standard attacks, as well as get the first 7 levels of upgrades from the PrC. My 2 platinum |

It gives you proficiency with martial weapons, and opens up some crazy good forms via Alter Self and Polymorph. Here is a level 5 melee wizard I made for a guantlet on this board. The main thing it suffers from is sustainability, which is why I never bothered to run it through the other gauntlets in the contest. |
