| #1lassarMay 06, 2008 10:11:08 | Hi Brainpool, I need some help, please. I am going to play in a group of 6th lvl characters in the Forgotten Realms Underdark. We are part of a mercenary group and more evil than good. The group in in dire need of a cleric or at least somebody who can use Wand of Cure X. The problem is, that I am not so eager to play a cleric. I prefer Necromancers. Is there a feat that allows me to chosse any two skills and make them into class skills? That would solve some of my problems... :-) Now I am looking for race (Drow are not allowed) and class (and PRC )that provides me with: - Darkvision - Class skill: Hide - Class skill: Move silently - Class skill: Use magic Device (or the ability to use Wand of Cure X) - Should be some kind of spellcasting Class I already had a look at the Warlock Class but I am not sure if is does not lack some diversity. (I am used to a True Necromancer and with Wizard and Cleric spells there is a lot of diversity, but I would like to try something new). Any help is appreciated, lassar |

They make better necromancers than wizards and sorcerers and better beatsticks than most fighter types. Take the Trickery domain to get hide, disguise, and bluff as class skills. There's probably some decent deat/undeath domains in spell compendium (I'm AFB and have a horrible memory). Also: True Necromancer is underpowered at best. Losing a buttload of caster levels? Yuckies, no thanks. The real true necromancer is the Dread Necromancer from Heroes of Horror. All you other necromancers just be imitating. |

Using *only* your criteria here, I would have to say Rogue 1/Wizard 4/Unseen Seer 10/Abjurant Champion 5 or Arcane Trickster 4/Archmage 1, taking the Able Learner feat to keep all of your rogue skills as class skills. Lots of spells and items grant darkvison, there's no reason to push for it as a racial feature. |

Healing becomes super easy, because as long as they all are Necropolitans or have Tomb Tainted Soul (if retraining is allowed, start with the feat, then retrain it out when you go undead) you can heal all day long, and eventually you can just create a couple Necrosis Carnexes to deal with keeping the party healed. Hide is a class skill already. Move Silently and UMD are issues... the Skill Knowledge feat from UA can help with one of those (you can have a great UMD score due to being a Charisma caster). Or use Skill Knowledge for Move Silently and then just rock out with your awesome healing powers anyway. JaronK |
