Phrenic 1/2 Fey Spellscale(+4 LA free)

Stats:
Cha>Con>Dex>Int>Wis>Str

Flaw 1: Precocious Apprentice
flaw 2: Improved Binding

1. Sorc 1: Extend spell
2. Binder 1:
3. Anima Mage 1:persistent spell
4. Anima Mage 2: +1 cha
5. Anima Mage 3:
6. Anima Mage 4: Maximize spell
7. Anima Mage 5:
8. Anima Mage 6: +1 cha
9. Anima Mage 7:Empower
10. Anima Mage 8:
11. Anima Mage 9:
12. Anima Mage 10: +1 Con Improved Familiar
13. Sorc 12:
14. Sorc 13:
15. Sorc 14: Eschew Materials
16.Sorc 15: +1 con

I believe I'll continue on to 20 with sorc, but I'd love to get my binding up. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to get 9th level spells and good binding. Is 11th level binding descent enough? Your evaluation any any suggestions/advice is highly desired.

you could go legacy champion.
weapons of legacy. You can add the class feature increases to anima mage and so keep improving both binding and casting.

9th level arcane casting with full binding isn't really possible using RAW. There's 3rd party support that makes it possible using full cross-compatibility (which isn't RAW). See Secrets of Pact Magic and Villains of Pact Magic. Great books, actually; I have them. TONS of flavor, and useful abilities.

You can get 9th level divine casting and full binding, or 9th level psionics and full binding, though. See the adaptation section of the Anima Mage PrC for how. Basically, you combine with Bloodlines and multiple +EBL PrCs.

Can you play with Faerun? Magic-in-the-Blood (Player's Guide to Faerun) would be a vast improvement. Spellscale isn't worth not getting that single feat.

EBL 11 is decent, though. The vast majority of vestiges are L5 or L6, and you get all those. In fact, there's only like 7 vestiges you miss out on otherwise (the main loss is from not having a 3rd or 4th vestige).

Also, you need to have EBL to pick up Improved Binding - ie, usually you can't take flaws except at 1st level, so without an exception there, you can't take Improved Binding via flaw.

Also, I really don't think its worth the flaw investment at 1st level to take both PA and IB just so you can get into AM one level early - just take your first Binder level at 3rd instead, and delay entry by one level.

Spellscale is more of a flavor choice, as our campaign, while having influence from Eberron, forgotten realms, dragonlance, etc, it is a homebrew world.

I've ran it by my DM, he is fine with it.

But another hit to my binding is pretty bad isn't it?

It's not as bad as losing a spellcaster level. Some of the lower level vestiges are actually probably better than the higher level ones, especially if they're not all you're relying on.

But what should I do with the extra feat?

Hey, I'm not saying you should do it. If your DM will let you enter as a Sorc1/Binder 1, I'd do it. I'm playing a character like that right now. :D

A Sorcerer 1/Binder 1 / Anima Mage 9 / Incanatrix 9 would be pretty good.

Incanatrix 9

Due to crazy houserules, Incrantrix is useless( ). Metamagic can be stacked and used without any penalty at all. Thankfully, most of my fellow players dislike spellcasters.

wha?! OK...

Well, you still get 4 bonus feats from it.

How's it going?:D

Well, mine finishes quite a bit differently... I just start out like that. Right now, it is a Binder1/Sorc1/Anima Mage 7/Ur-Priest 1/Contemplative 1/HomebrewPRC1, with 4 of the Anima Mage levels progressing Ur-Priest. We're about to have our first combat. The game started at ECL12. :D

And what do you mean about the metamagic? It doesn't cost you extra spell levels to apply, even without Incantatrix/Anima Mage?

Exactly, that's why I absolutely love playing spellcasters under two of our DMs.

HOLY ****ING CRAP!?!?!?
i really REALLY hope your DMs have enough sense to make it limited to spell levels you can cast.
if not (and also if, really) pick nothing but metamagics and prereqs. im serious, casting a quickened repeating empowered maximized explosive widened fireball as a 3rd level spell is pretty good, really.
also, anybody thought about heighten spell?

:] Yeah, it is pretty damned idiotic. However, if it wasn't for me, the only 'caster' we'd ever have in our groups is a warlock. You guys really don't realize what some of our 'seasoned' veterans think is a good build( sorc 10/ftr 10 wtf!? ). Honestly, if they allow me these shenanigans, I will abuse the **** outta of it.

Heighten spell makes me think of shadowcraft mage, which I've weaseled past my DM to let me enter as a non-gnome.

your DM seems a strange guy to me... instead of nerfing caster so they dont overpower warrior types, he gives them so much power an adept will break the game.
if they dont limit it to spell levels you can cast, you could technically heighten it to 20th level and cast spells with 200% effect to disbelievers. WTF, disbelievers are more affected?!?

My DM is a really good friend who introduced the game to me, I don't have it in me to insult his DMing and turn his thoughts of DnD around.

It is debatable if they would let me pull that off, I'd prolly have to run it by my DM. Though, when we pop into Epics(which will happen) it is allot more feasible.

That is just really unbelievable. I'd take the Metamagic Specialist Sorcerer Variant (PHB2?) which lets you cast spells with metamagic applied without increasing your casting times. Then I'd take Quicken Spell, and go for some kind of duel caster build with early entry or fast progression on one side, like Sorcerer/Ur-Priest/Mystic Theurge. Then you can cast two spells per round for free, and have enough spell slots not to run out while doing this. Add Chain, Twin, and Maximize for uber-pwnage.

Combat would look like this:
Round 1: Quickened Chained Greater Dispel Magic on the bad guy and all of his equipment, then Twinned Maximized Enervation
Round 2: Two Twinned Maximized Enevations (one Quickend).
Round 3: Laugh maniacally.

Oh yeah, don't forget to squeeze Persistent Spell in there for uber-buffage. (Of course going Wizard instead of Sorcerer is probably better for the arcane side.)

With your houserules can we say arcane fusion?

Repeat after me Arcane Fusion.

Yes I would like that Fireball, twin, repeated, widened maximized, fell drain as well as casting the same thing with a delayed blast fireball. And then I do the same thing again but quicken it.

You would though be going for spellguard of silverymoon, archmage, extraordinary spell aim, those rings, etc asap though.

Hmmm, maybe going as a Metamagic focused caster would be better than an Anima Mage. Unfortunately, I haven't the slightest idea which metamagic to pick. Hard decisions indeed.....

Metamagic can be stacked and used without any penalty at all.

Emphasis mine. Do you mean what you said there?

Quadruple (or, in fact, n-tuple) widened maximized twinned wings of flurry, anyone? That's like "I hit all enemies with hurt. Lots of hurt. My allies aren't affected. Oh, and I do this on another's turn, to also eliminate all damage to me..."

Now, thinking that's not what you meant by "stacking" ;) ... Spellguard of Silverymoon is very nice if you want to focus on area effect spells, to exclude your allies from the effects. It also gives 2 free metamagic feats (with 1 feat investment - leavin you with the same rate as wizard levels).

As to which metamagic feats to pick... people have already named all the fun ones.

Quicken Spell - 2 spells per round
Twin Spell - doubles the effects of all your spells
Maximize - in this case very much worth it
Split Ray - for use with enervation (or other rays... just use enervation)

Fell Animate - so everything you kill comes back from the dead to serve you

Chain Spell - to affect more targets (also useful with buffs)
Persistent Spell - you get the idea

The best spell to put metamagic on is probably enervation. Negative levels kill just about anything except contructs and undead. Area effects will be much more powerful with your houserules. All the more reason to use spellguard of silverymoon if you like your allies. Getting all of them immunity to some energy type would work, too.

I'm guessing everybody in the party will be dragonblooded. If so, I'd probably go Wizard 5/Spellguard of Silverymoon 4 ... and then whatever. Phaedrus is probably right about Ur-Priest being a good idea if you have the capabilities to burn through lots of spells quickly.

If you can heighten beyond the castable level... try to qualify early for Shadowcraft Mage and take 3 levels. Take Arcane Disciple: Luck. From now on, all your spells will be 100% real miracles. You now own the game.

Yeah... duplicating what other people are saying... Don't waste time with the Anima Mage. Just play a straight Wizard or Cleric (PrC for the Cleric; its not worth it for the Wizard). You just want as many freakin' metamagic feats as possible.
