| #1bprdagentJun 26, 2009 6:51:30 | We're playing a 5th level Eberron game with 25 point buy and I was thinking of a Changeling Rogue that goes into the Assassin class. Any suggestions as to what I could do? Most books are allowed besides tome of battle; and ideally I'm looking for more of a sneaky rogue then a social one so I'd prefer to not go into racial sub levels. Also really quick is there anything Changeling's can buy that would help change there clothes as well as there apperance? |

It makes for a great assassin, one who can enter a place in disguise, completely unarmed, then produce a claw or bite attack to kill his victim, and even make it look like an animal or monster did it. ;) I just got my Changeling a hat of disguise. It doubles your disguise skill, and you use it to change all your gear and clothing. If not, a vestment of many styles would help. |

I heard there's arguements over if Changelings qualify for Warshaper though did that ever get sorted out? |

I heard there's arguements over if Changelings qualify for Warshaper though did that ever get sorted out? Shapechanger subtype gets them in. A Changeling's Minor Change Shape isn't quite up to a full Change Shape, but they only need one way in. Completing the Cabinet Trickster PrC upgrades them to full Change Shape, if necessary. IIRC, the argument is more over whether or not they should be allowed to take it. The class is probably intended for high ECL monsters and druids/polymorphers with limited shapeshiftings per day, and was printed before ECS produced a LA+0 creature that easily satisfies the requirements at low levels with unlimited uses. But if you don't abuse the potential for an infinite number of tentacles attacks like a Lovecraftian abomination, then it's not too over-the-top. ;) The lure is in spamming a pile of natural attacks, but the trap is reduced attack scores and flimsy damage, without enchantments. So I think they're not so great at overcoming DR and so on, unless you take other feats to improve your natural attacks (getting your claws magically enchanted is dubious, does it keep if you change out of your claws?). Bonus damage like Sneak Attack should help. For a decent build, then Changeling (Anything That Qualifies And Is Combat Focuses) N / Warshaper 4 is good. :D I'm currently planning on a Changeling Rogue 4 (Changeling RSLs) / Fighter 1 (UA Thug Variant) / Warshaper 4 / Cabinet Trickster 5 / Mindspy 5 / X 1, with Quick Change (1 feat removes the need for Warshaper 5), Disturbing Visage, Improved Feint for a highly social rogue with a range of combat tricks based on skills, shape shifting and detect thoughts. |

| #7kell_kheraptisJun 26, 2009 11:12:33 | I'd say try and get the desired Warshaper levels before level 10, and cap the build with Chameleon 10 :D Make sure to hit the magical 16 BAB, then focus as desired. There's even a thread called the Ultimate Multi-Threat that shows how to get 9th level spells with one, and combined with Warshaper earlier, you'd be nigh unstoppable, and impossible to pin down. |
