| #1drzoiusSep 06, 2012 21:33:28 | Well, today a friend asked me about a character class, but maybe you guys could help him more than I. Wise lords of this forum here I come: He want to create a character in a low magic campaign, the campaign itself is located on a metropolis closed (something similar to dalaran in WoW) as we think the outside world is destroyed, contaminated. So obviously its a city based campaign. The DM asked us to do not take many magic or spells because the game is about investigating (like X-Files series), very social too. Then the new player come and want to create a character, I know well this guy and i know i wont like any class that couldn´t do a good mele task, neither he can play any complicated class (he player warrior and rogue before this game). So I need a mele/ranged dps/tanky class, funny but simple, and preferible a new taste to him. Books: allowed? Any but dragon magazine. Starting level: 6 Races: Any (i think), but dragon magazine ;) PD: The cake is a lie. Thanks guys! |

This can be done but when you say "low magic," ban PC spellcasting, and put the PCs in a closed urban environment you're not talking about the DnD I recognize. |

Not a lot of magic means not a lot of creature types that are going to resist SA damage and you're going to be able to tinker with UMD as magic items trickle into the game, you'll have a slew of "investigative" skills as well. A non-spellcasting variant Urban Ranger base wouldn't be bad at all either. |

Class
Feats
So, whenever someone moves while near you or successfully attacks you, you get an attack of opportunity, which you use to trip, then you get a free attack if you succeed. |

Combat Expertise, Jotunbrud, Nymphs Kiss Ranger 1 .... Track or Urban Track Marshal 1 ... Skill Focus(Diplomacy), Exotic Weapon(Spiked Chain) Rogue 2 ..... Improved Trip Rogue 3 Rogue 4 ..... Investigate, Quick Reconnoiter Show Nymph's Kiss Type: Exalted Source: Book of Exalted Deeds By maintaining an intimate relationship with a good-aligned fey (such as a nymph or dryad), you gain some of the characteristics of fey. Benefit: Fey creatures regard you as though you were fey. You gain a +2 circumstance bonus on all Charisma-related checks and a +l bonus on all saving throws against spells and spell-like abilities. Starting with the level when you take this feat, you gain 1 extra skill point per level. |
| #6drzoiusSep 07, 2012 13:17:11 | Here we are the Dm and I: we readed all the replies. -To Steven: Trust me it can be perfectly done with DnD, and its so funny. We have been playing this campaign for a year or more now. You should try it one day. -Andarius & Maat: We think he could enjoy more a class less common, as i said before he alredy played rogue and warrior, and rogue/marshal has been common in our games. He want to play something new to us ( we have played all the basic classes from the player handbook, and variants). I did not say before but we can use magic items, and the monsters are sometimes magic enemys (demons, magic beast, mages, etc), the low magic restriction is allmost for spell casting to the players and knowledges. Understad this is could use spells or knowledges we could easily prevent the investigations or the surprises in the city. The group are investigators (without spells or knowledges to dont **** up the history plots). We are a urban druid with very low sab to prevent heavy spellcasting, and a rakshasa naztharune (savage progresion), we had a marshal before but he left. We would thanks more suggestions and so thanks to the replies!! BB |
