Apr 09, 2008 13:52:02 I need some help with the rules on grafts. I have the LoM and RoD which both have some information about grafts, but not all of it. I was wondering if there is a compiled list of grafts and the rules for them.

What I have from the RoD is that you can only have up to 5 grafts, and they all most be the same type *i.e. all dragon grafts, or all beholder grafts, not some of both* and that having more than one graft can confer extra bonuses *at least for dragon* LoM doesn't seem to add much to this, indeed doesn't even contain this information! Anyone have anything else about grafts out there?

RoD uses graft rules that were introduced after LoM. Eberron introduced the rules and they were accepted as canon for later non-Eberron specific material. Speaking of which, a couple of Eberron books have grafts in them.

Has it been stated anywhere if the Fleshgrafter PrC from LoM bypasses the rather hefty restrictions (and hp sacrifices) listed in Eberron?

Many different types of grafts have come into use since their initial discovery. Even so, the new magic of grafts has yet to spread beyond a few select nations. This section contains information on grafts representative of a few of the different cultures discussed in Magic of Eberron. (The rules presented here might deviate from those of the grafts presented in other books. These rules apply only to the grafts in this book, and not to any other form of graft previously introduced.)

Emphasis mine. There's a brief contradiction to this in RotD, but it refers back to Magic of Eberron os the primary source on grafts, and MoE specifically states that the rules only apply to the "revised grafts."

Also: RoD = Races of Destiny. RotD = Races of the Dragon.

The rules in RotD only apply to grafts in RotD and other books that specifically list those rules. Other grafts don't use them.

One, the one I belong to, finds that there are two kinds of grafts: MoE/RotD, and everything else. Each set follows their own set of rules.

The other believes that everything follows the MoE/RotD rules.

I would ask your DM. Also, there aren't any grafts in the BoVD; I think you mean LM.

Apr 10, 2008 0:24:29 I think you are right tsuyoshikentsu, I don't own either book so I'm not fully aware what is in them. Part of the reason I'm asking is that some of my players want to have access to them and I need to know how to work them. Now that the decision is more in my hands I think I'll hold to your idea too. After all you get bonuses from the Dragon Grafts that you don't get from the others.

Lords of Madness: Sithilar, Aboleth, and Illithid

Fiend Folio: Fiendish, Beholder, Yaun Ti, Maugrym (sp?)

Libris Mortis: Undead

Races of the Dragon: Dragon

Edit: Fiend Folio is Maug, not Maugrym. Those are something else. FF also had Aboleth Grafts right?

Edit 2: This says

Examples are given for grafts for those favored by aboleths, beholders, fiends, illithids, maugs, undead, and yuan-ti.
