Hello all once again,

Last night we started up a new campaign, and I decided to play a Hellbred, one of my favorite races. I was wanting some help optimizing a Hellreaver build with the following restrictions:

  • No DnD magazines allowed
  • 3.0 and 3.5 books are allowed (including FR and EB)
  • No Unearthed Arcana
  • No Psionics (but general feats from the books are okay)

My Hellbred:

Raziel, Hellbred Paladin 2
Str 17, Dex 12, Con 14, Int 14, Wis 16, Cha 20

Feats: Devil's Favor, Power Attack

Any and all suggestions for builds, etc. would be GREATLY appreciated.

Until next time,

~Cy

Take all the feats you can on wielding crossbows and shoot everything you see....

Maybe what you would like the build to do, how you intend to play him, what you want to focus on, etc would be nice.

Sorry about the delayed response, storms took down the interwebs around here.

Anyway, the title of the thread is Hellreaver build, a PrC in Fiendish Codex II that stems from being a paladin. I was looking for the fastest and most optimized way to use this class to my advantage, as well as the class levels between 2 and the PrC.

I'm still looking for ideas if anyone has any. I'd prefer avoiding Spiked chains and charger builds if at all possible, but I do use a Warflail as a primary weapon. (2d6/x2/bludgeoning/2h weapon, +2 disarm, trip)

You said you don't want a charger build, but I think that's probably one of the best uses for the hellreaver, since you can safely convert your furious strike bonuses into hefty charge damage. You could also try tanking with Crusader, since the damage pool, healing, and divine succor should make you very hard to kill.

Thanks for the useful links, but unfortunently the character died, and as anyone who plays a hellbred character know, your not coming back without 11k gold to waste. Alas, now I'm a Feral Wererat Goblin Shapeshifting Druid 2 (ECL 3 all together)...so eh, I have to say I'm quite happy. :D

Er... your ecl is way off. A wererat is a minimum ecl 3 (1 hd, 2 or 3 LA), feral is LA+1, that puts you at ecl 6 or 7.

You could always play a new Hellbred.

This is also the reason why I linked the hellbred's death one. To give you ideas about getting your tortured soul back. Any way you now have a great idea how to build the character. Good gaming.
