This is my first Artificer character, and just need some help with the last bits of the character sheet.

Character Creation rules:
Level 6
28 point buy (8, 10, 14, 16, 10, 14 after Warforged ability mods was my current spread)
13,000gp to spend

I plan on only taking the Level 1 Warforged Artificer Racial Substitution Level, and intend for the character to be a Blastificer.

The feats I'm currently thinking of taking are Extraordinary Artisan, Legendary Artisan, and Maximize Spell, but am open to adjusting these and have 1 feat left.

I have 11,425gp left after my Dedicated Wright homunculus, which cost 150xp to make from my reserve (DM says I've got 290 from craft reserve to spend, so another 140 remains.) I need to know what scrolls/other items I should make/buy at this point.

Eternal wands and schemas are nice. Limited in uses per day, but not a bad way to carry those spells you'll only need once or twice a day.

Bracers of archery and some medium armor (Better yet, Arms and equipment has Tesselated armor. get that).

A cloak of charisma and an item to bring up your UMD are good investments as well.

An articifers monocle can be handy.

A handy haversack or a portable hole can make travel easy.

Also I'd recommend using a morning star as your melee weapon, and a dagger is always handy

Barding can be handy for any homunculus that could see combat.

Tangle foot bags have always been a good investment to me, and an ever burning torch too.

Remember that your infusions are expensive to fuel, so make sure you spend the money to stock up on the oils and things you'll be needing as well.

I hope this helps, and if anyone disagrees with my recommendations please feel free to say so.

Empower is generally superior statistically to Maximize as metamagic.

With 11,425gp to spend, I'd go with the following...

Healing Belt (750gp MIC)
Breastplate +1 (1,350gp PH/DMG) (you can use infusions to improve on the cheap)
Masterwork UMD Tool (50gp PH)
Heward's Handy Haversack (2,000gp DMG)
Masterwork Weapon (300gp + base Weapon price PH)
Artificer's Monocle (1,500gp MIC) (I normally ask my party to help pay for this, as it allows me to Identify items for free)
Anklet's of Translocation (1,400gp MIC)
Vest of Resistance +1 (1,000gp MIC)
Cloak of Charisma +2 (4,000gp DMG)

The rest I'd spend on wands/consumables.

I was going to have you craft the Cloak of Charisma, as that's the only way to afford it, but I just did the math and that would take 160xp. Of course, you could get more than 20xp at level 6 by going and soloing a kobold, so I'd ask the DM if he'd let that slide.

Character is a Warforged, so can't wear the breastplate... Mithral Body would give me something similar, but I don't want to spend the feat on it if I don't have to.

I'm rather partial to the wand slots in the forearm, I think it takes up a bracer slot. That and I second eternal wands, not for combination with the sheathes though.

Definitely second(Third?) the wands. Even if you can't craft it, you should easily be able to make the DC to use them. Don't worry about armor, just pick up some useful scrolls. I suggest Luminous Armor, from BoED. Also, don't get a cloak of charisma. A Circlet of Persuasion is better - for 500 more gold, you get +1 more to UMD.

just be Dragonborn Warforged .... keep Living Construct Subtype and gain all the Dragonborn goodies... and can still take Warforged Feats and PrCs... even though you lose the Composite plating.... you at least can wear Robes and Armor

That really doesn't seem to be something a decent DM would let slide.. I certainly wouldn't...

Define "decent"... Right now, I'm in a game with all sorts of crazy LA b.s. and the DM is just fine.

Q. Can a warforged become a dragonborn of Bahamut, and if so what are the racial traits it keeps from the warforged list?

A.Despite the misleading entry in the dragonborn racial traits that suggests that all dragonborn are humanoids, the only prerequisites for being reborn in this manner are a non-evil alignment and an Intelligence of 3 or better. Thus, there’s nothing stopping a warforged from undergoing this ritual and dedicating himself to the service of Bahamut.
A warforged who becomes a dragonborn would be a construct with the living construct and dragonblood subtypes. He’d retain his warforged ability score modifiers and favored class.
He’d also retain all traits derived from the living construct subtype, including immunity to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, disease, nausea, fatigue, exhaustion, and energy drain; inability to heal damage naturally; vulnerability to certain metal- or wood-affecting spells; and half effect from healing spells. He’d still become inert at –1 to –9 hp, and he still wouldn’t need to eat, sleep, or breathe.
However, he would lose his composite plating, light fortification, and slam attack. The next logical question, of course, is whether the dragonborn warforged can select feats that would improve his now-absent composite plating. Technically, these feats don’t list composite plating as a prerequisite, so it appears the answer would be yes. The Unarmored Body feat (RE 120) supports this ruling, as it indicates that other feats that adjust the character’s armor bonus could be selected later, even though he technically doesn’t have the composite plating’s armor bonus any more.

it is something a "Decent DM" would let slide.... but in a world with Magic, Dragons, etc.... it is something that should be allowed.... in fact most reasonable DMs that i know would allow it... since it is not unbalancing at all
