I have a halfling rogue 1. I'm looking at building something along the lines of:

Rogue 11/Ranger 2/Horizon Walker 6/Shadow Dancer 1

Should have +6d6 sneak attack;+16 base attack, +11 Fort, +12 Ref, +5 Will; hide in plain sight, dimension door 1d4 rounds

Thinking about using dagger throwing as my attack of choice, taking rapid shot on Ranger 2.

I'm not sure how the progression should go or if this build is even all that great. I'd also like it to be effective in the first 10 levels because I'm not sure if I'll have a game for it in the last 10.

Is this game core only? Even in core, this seems kinda lackluster... Why shadowdancer?

Options are somewhat open, but CORE is it mainly.

Shadow Dancer for hide in plain sight, but I'm not sure what would be optimal.

I know classes in the players handbook 2 isn't allowed. I haven't asked about any others.

Rogue 16/Nightsong Enforcer 4

Rogue 3/Fighter 2/Guild Thief 3/Nightsong Enforcer 1

These two look interesting as well, if I can get my DM to accept the classes. What kind of feat selection/progression should I go for? What would be the quickest way (first 8-10 levels) to make an effective melee rogue? I don't have many of the additional books either.
