Hi guys, my party and i are having some problems with this gestalt campaign we've been in for a while. WE KEEP DYING!!! we've leveled from 3rd to 8th and all together we (party of 5) have lost about 10 characters. I have been searching for a good healing Prc and have come to the conclusion that none exist. The one possibility of being a mediocre healing prc is radiant servent but its more turning than healing since you only get the healing benifit for 1 spell of each level (domain spells only). So now you know whats going on, im basically looking for help building such an OP healer that my DM will never want to kill us again. LoL any help will be greatly appreciated.

Rules: Basic gestalt rules, multicalssing rules apply to both sides, WotC books only, no dragon mag., high power stats (i think they are 18, 18, 17, 16, 14, 14)

THANKS

I'd take a Crusader//Cleric over a Crusader//Healer any day... that way at least YOU won't die. What about, for example:

LG Human (worship Wee Jas)
Crusader 5/Ruby Knight Vindicator 10/Crusader +5//
Cleric 6/Warblade 4/Cleric +1/Warblade +4/Cleric +5

BAB +20, IL 20, Cleric 20 Casting, access to 6 disciples, being a Win-dicator...

...of course you can go much better if your DM allows two PRC's at the same time, but this is pretty much as correct rules-wise as I can do.

Healing is generally not the best route to go when it comes to survivability, but this build can heal, cast well, tank, deal damage, and abuse DMM. Sure it can heal as well, but why simplify too much? If you still want to heal a lot of the time, you can never go wrong with the feat Augment Healing.

I highly recommend this thread for a discussion of healing options that don't involve sacrificing a character to being a healbot. Very good read.

Crusader//Cleric is a great choice: does what you want, is synergistic, simple, elegant, and powerful.

LG Human (worship Wee Jas)
Crusader 5/Ruby Knight Vindicator 10/Crusader +5//
Cleric 6/Warblade 4/Cleric +1/Warblade +4/Cleric +5

RKV seems to be a dual progression PrC, and as such not usable in a gestalt game.

I know that clerics are more powerful, but consider Favoured Soul perhaps. Don't worry about throwing out spells with saving throws, so you can keep your WIS low and just go for CHA so you can throw out tons of buffs and healing.

Another possibility: Crusader || Binder.

afb so will throw out some generalities.
With gestalt theres a lot you can do with Cleric, besides just PrC.
Take Healing domian, and alt class ability (PHII) to spont cast a domain's spells instead of cures. Healing includes most Cures and others like Heal

Aura's:
~Dragon shaman, one provides fast healing up to 1/2 hp which saves spells
~Marshall, add charisma mod, take one for dex which includes initiative
If there's a Master Thrower in group, Art of War and let him trip dragons out of sky...yes out of the sky.
~Bard, make that Charisma work for you...if you're going to be in light armor anyway take Cloistered Cleric for extra skill points and Knowledge domain.

If you add Bard/Marshall to cleric; check out Regalia of the Hero set in MIC that is very beneficial

Granted ability/Devotion:
Look and see how many PrC you can eventually get that provide bonus domains and go for them for the granted abilities. I had a character that at 12th level had 7 or 8 domains...if preferred or somewhat duplicated, trade Domain in for the Devotion (CoChampion)

I realize that most of that doesn't provide the OP healer question, but as clerics are already good healers then shoot for general enhancements.

I second that, especially with the ACF deity's favor from PHB2.
On top, magic of the land (RotW) and all favoured soul spells heal 2 points, as well as granting 3 temp HP per spell level.

On the other gestalt side, consider a war weaver (HoB), to get the tapestry, which will be fun in combination to magic of the land (and to an extent the fav. souls ACF).

I can strongly recommend the following, as noted above using "deity's favor" acf:

Lord Of War

This build focuses on maintaining absolute and indelible control of the entire course of battle. Using far-reaching buffs, strong crowd control, and distributed healing to serve as a command and control system for the entire battle field, it's one of my all time favorite builds. Uses soft early entry to access War Weaver a smidge early. Also really needs\requires Educated, from eberron to give it proper access to knowledge skills as class skills. Knowledge devotion is also a superb option. One trick is to abuse domain spontaneity + favored soul to make things accessible in ways they should not be. Add Magic of the Land and an Acorn of Far Travel for extra fun, shake in a measure of Drake helms from the Explorer's Handbook, and you can cover pretty much everything.

And people try to tell me gestalt produces characters comparable to normal ones

Sorcerer 4/War Weaver 5/War Mage(from Age of Mortals) 5
Alongside
Favored Soul 6/Malconvoker 2/Sacred Exorcist 1/Malconvoker xxxxxx

Who does that?

And for the record: the character is illegal by gestalt rules (two PrCs simultaneously), so it's not too surprising it's on the strong side.

RKV seems to be a dual progression PrC, and as such not usable in a gestalt game.

Dual progression? That's like ruling out Fist of Raziel because it simultaneously progresses Divine Spellcasting and any class with a good BAB!

RKV grants maneuvres from a different set than crusader, and RKV has a number of unique (nonreproducible) class features which neither crusader nor any divine base class I know of will grant. Also, the class flavor is not "Crusaders with Cleric Casting", it's "Elite Servants and Infiltrators of Wee Jas", which sounds a bit off the flavor of, for example, Eldritch Knight or Mystic Theurge.

Well, you (or your DM) may rule things a bit differently than I do as a DM...

Note that Eldritch Knight, which virtually has nothing else to offer other than arcane casting and good BAB, is explicitly cited as an example for a dual-progression PrC.

Entirely irrelevant. Flavor is a non-issue when discussing RAW, and unique class abilities have no bearing whatsoever on this matter. Arcane Trickster, for example, has a variety of unique abilities as well and is still explicitly mentioned as a dual-progression PrC.

Well, you (or your DM) may rule things a bit differently than I do as a DM...

Seems like it, although it surprises me a little. RKV offers full initiator level progression (along with maneuvers and stances gained) and near-full divine casting - how that is supposed to not be a dual-progression PrC is beyond me.

First on Topic:

Also as Vicerious posted in that link, revivify is a very powerful and cheap way to raise dead without level loss. Gentle respose lasts for days and extends the time you have to cast raise dead on a target, and revivify says it works like raise dead. Worse case scenero, get a craft contingency spell (Complete arcane has this type of new magic crafting feat) on every player with the gentle repose spell (600gp). This will give you three days to cast revivify, and the cleric can always recast gentle repose in that time. This will hold you over until you can cast revivify yourself, plus dropping revivify in combat does not always assure that player will survive.

A would think a druid/cleric would also make for a good healer. Two spells lists with healing spells, plus summons, should keep the healing flowing. Plus wildshape will keep your own hitpoints up.

Slightly off topic:

How does your DM handle LA and racial HD in gestalt? If the LA and racial HD run up one side of the gestalt, play something that has regeneration. The wendigo is a +4 template that can be added to a humanoid that gets regen 5. I am sure there are other opitions if monster races are allowed.

Really off Topic:

If you want to get crazy, play a fiend of possession.

Karoti HD 2/ LA 2/Beguiler 1/ Thrallherd 1/ Fiend of Possession 2//
Telepath 8

With the Fiend of Possession PrC (Fiend Folio), you can ride around possessing a weapon all the time. You are basically immune to everything and will still be able to manifest your powers. Thrallherd will give you a cohort you can replace daily, so no worries if he dies, you will get a new ride tomorrow. Make your cohort the heal bot. Worse case everyone dies but you and you can save the party.

There was some excellent discussion in this thread about healing, incluidng ways to give the whole party Fast Healing 6 for the entire day:

Oops! How would you fix it?

Depends on what you want to focus on. War Weaver is so useful, it should probably stay anyway, so you just have to decide between blasting (WarMage) and summoning (Malconvoker).

Sorcerer doesn't have any class features at all and is pretty lousy in other aspects, too, when compared to the Favored Soul (HP, saves, even skill list), so the PrC should go on the sorcerer side, of course, netting you D8 HD, medium BAB, all good saves, and FS class features (meh) along with the goodies from the PrCs.

Alternatively, you can do good things for War Weaver by using other classes. Int synergy would be Wiz5/WarWeaver5/X++//Archivist++, and would get you an even larger selection of spells to choose for your tapestry (Incantatrix might make a good "X", if only to apply metamagic to those tapestry spells). I know you are using several tricks to overcome the spontaneous casters' small set of spells known, but this build has a (potentially) huge selection of spells from the get-go.

I like the idea you put forward and propose a loose proto-build of:
Wiz3/WW5/Wiz2/Malconvoker X//Archivist7/Malconvoker2/Archivist X

For summoning, healing, and general antics.

Hm Doc, my lesson learned from the "UMD for staves" was: magic domain!

Allow me to brainstorm on it: Cleric, or domain wizard / sorcerer. Let me present a sorcerer solution:

I believe that 2 caster are versatile enough to dump spells known.
Stalwart (magic) domain sorcerer 5, divine oracle 1, war weaver 5, divine oracle 2-10
Paired to favoured soul 20.

Tossing in a feat nets mithril full plate.
The sorcerer would care for the basics (celerity, wall of force, forcecage, and time stop).
Along comes cunning (ex).
This build covers all the basics I learned in undergrad wizardry school.

I like the notion of stalwart sorcerer that you know at least one spell at each level; end up with disjunction and time stop.
[Melancholy] Reminds me of my only 3rd edition caster.[/Melancholy]

N2MU, I'm passively recruiting for a CO game via vent and gametable. Spelljammer, involves T_G, Tshern, and Innabinder.

Ouch, that's coming in a time I am uncertain where I will be next.

My biggest question is: Location?

My near future planning puts me in as a question mark:
My current US visa is running out end of September. So I made plans to leave - next tuesday I have a flight for a "non-planned" South Korea trip (the ticket is booked that's about it).
If I don't enjoy it too much and not apply for a visa, I will be pretty open minded location-wise. I only losely planned to hit Europe, if SK is not working out.
I am kind of looking for a place that I like to stay for either a doctorate, including an assistant position, or a job.
Actually a gaming table is turning any location into an attractive one
