#1 tos_shai_hulud Jan 30, 2011 2:30:05	Campaign setting: Eberron I'm trying to build the ultimate investigator.  Any thoughts on how I can go about this? I'm looking for a gestalt build. Ideas: Human Telepath / Rogue 10, Thrallherd / Rogue 10 (Feats to include Research, Investigate, Urban Tracking, Track, Master Linguist, Able Learner, Noble, Favored Among the Nobles, Silver Concordian, Gold Concordian, Platinum Concordian) The feats, Noble, Favored Among the Nobles, Silver Concordian, Gold Concordian, and Platinum Concordian are custom feats by my DM akin to dragonmarked feats, only instead of being dragonmarked, I'm a baron or some other member of the royal line, and i'm a member of the Aurum. Would anyone have any other suggestions for builds that might work better?  I'm also leaning towards a divine build using divine oracle or the like.

#3 Krusk Jan 30, 2011 9:53:21	I would do Cleric//Rogue.  (I'm for whatever reason mentally against learning any opt tricks with factotum, and it would probably work just as good for you) All the clerics scrying, and ask the diety questions spells will be super helpful. Prestige class wise you are actually going to be pretty well off. Cleric 3/ Church Inquisitor 10/Contemplative 2/Sacred Exorcist 5//Rogue 20. Domains you get are Inquisition, and 3 of choice. I recomend Knowledge, Charm and Oracle. I sort of limited my readings to ones that fit your theme, and there are a few better ones out there.
#4 tos_shai_hulud Jan 30, 2011 19:15:14	Krusk, that looks really good.  What do you think of the Divine Oracle instead of Sacred Exorcist? Also, what would you recommend for psionic defenses?  At this point, I believe the plot will involve the Dreaming Dark.  Also, is there a way that I can get autohypnosis as a class skill?  That could help out a lot for its ability with memorization.
#5 Krusk Jan 30, 2011 20:50:40	Divine Oracle is nice. My leaning towards sacred exorcist was that possessions jump out as a common theme in fantasy/sci-fi detective stories. I really don't have enough experience with psionics to reliably help there. I do know that typically the psionic/magic transparency rule is in effect. So any anti spellcasting helps against psionics. I'd check with your DM to see if they are using it or not. I think default it is supposed to be, but some might say it isn't.

Factotum has all skills as class skills. Otherwise there's Human Paragon; or Apprentice (IIRC) a feat in UA that lets you get a skill as class skill.
