Help. Stuck with an NPC Level

Feb 20, 2009 10:21:04 Low level campaign. Pretty much most things allowed Except we get saddled with an NPC level.

I'm building a new character for this game that has 1 npc level and 2 pc levels. The npc level cannot be sacrificed, even for LA.

Looking to play a solid bruiser with other talents that will be useful.

Or a Gnome Illusionist.

Feb 20, 2009 10:27:08 Aristocrat is a decent NPC class. It has proficiency with all armor and shields, simple and martial weapons, d8 HD, and decent skills with 4 skill points per level. It makes an ok entry into a gish build. The only real drawback is the lack of BAB at first level.

What ability score method are you using?

Hmm Aristocrat Dwarf for the Dwarf/Wizard Gish. Promising.

Feb 20, 2009 10:53:13 You can take a level of commoner and the Chicken Infested flaw from one of the dragon magazines. It makes it so that any time you draw an item there's a 50% you'll draw a chicken instead. When combined with a spell pouch that allows drawing components as a free action, you can get some really crazy stuff.
But if you're looking for a more serious character, I propose taking a level of Expert with the Able Learner feat from RoD. This allows you to pick any 10 skills to be class skills for you. You can choose UMD, UPD, Autohypnosis, Iajutsu Focus, and anything else you fancy. It's the poor man's factotum dip.

That's pretty much what I was going to suggest. Possibly going into a Bloodstorm Blade Iaijutsu thrower build.

Exactly. Add a level or two of Runesmith to be able to cast in full plate with a tower shield. :D
