i want your opinions on this matter as both a DM and player, considering that this spell does not work as well at higher levels, what do you think about making the Summon Monster "X" spell a single spell instead of 9 different ones, you still cant use the equivalent level monsters until you can cast the appropriate level spell, but you can apply feats like arcane thesis to it and it will work on any level not just the one you choose.

for all purposes this spell will still work as always, you can prepare as many of this spells from level I to IX in as you can fit in your slots but, this whay you dont have to waste a feat every level if you whant to use arcane thesis.

Are you intending other uses for this besides Arcane Thesis? It's probably more efficient to make a specific exception to Arcane Thesis to allow it to function with all the Summon Monster spells than altering the spell in this way.

What about Nature's Ally, Summon Undead, Conjure Ice Beast, etc?

well if any other uses for it can be found then yes, since must summoners are not that good maybe this can help

You're essentially making the summoning spells scale (like astral construct, which is awesome for Sorcerers. Wizards will like it because they don't have to burn as many free spells known getting all the summons, but it doesn't affect them as much.

Summoners are certainly no slouches. Druids make excellent summoners even in Core, the Malconvoker PrC makes summoning extremely powerful, as do several feats from Faerun or Eberron.

Other than doing Twin/Empower-type shenanigans with Arcane Thesis, this kind of change will only really impact Sorcerers and Favored Souls.
