What could work vs. enervation? ego whip? an undeads energy drain, ray of enfeeblement? / other forms of loss or drain both permenant and temp losses, if the protection vs. such a thing would even differ. What rotects/resists/makes immune?

doing a search online lead me in circles

any help much appreciated

thanks Blightersbane

I forgot to add I know of 2 feat, the lasting life and everlasting feat from the Libris mortis. Im a 12th Sorcerer so the higher level spells cant help, yet, and I dont wear armor. The scarab could prove handy, having a SR would be nice (crossing fingers and hoping for bad d20 rolls from attacking spellslingers) Stone body and the scarab are both possibilities... thanks for info

Soulfire armor protects from energy drain and a few other things, iirc.

Ask your party cleric really nicely for a Death Ward also works.

MUST SPAM DIVINE POWAH MOAR RAWR!!!!

Really, a Mithril Buckler costs about 1000g, base. It has no spell failure, and no check penalty. Thus, even though you aren't proficient, you can still equip one at no penalty.

Now, Soulfire (BoED) is a nice +4 enchant that gives you constant Death Ward. With a +1 base item, that means that you will be buying a piece of +5 armor. Thats 25,000g, and 1000 for the Mithril means that for the low low price of 26,000g, you will have total immunity to negative energy effects and [Death] effects.

Ray of Enfeeblement will still get you though...very very very little stops that. Ray Deflection from the SpC will.

Hope this helps...

A spell turning effect will turn rays and [Death] spells that are targeted at you.

thanks! this is a great find, exactly what I needed. Or should I say Yatzee or Bingo! and now its time to prepare for the arguements as to what exactly is stopped by this magical

Ray protection 4th level spell 10/min per level, protects against all ranged touch attacks, great spell, and I got it.

i think you can put the efect of soulfire to a pair of bracers of armor by the rules in MIC
the mithral bucler still is a better option but the bracers are a lot more dificult to sunder.

by the Magic Item Compendium in the same way as a normal armor
a pair of bracer of armor +5 will cost 25000 gp
and a pair of bracer +1 with soulfire (+4) is a total of +5 and will cost 25000 gp also.

you mus remember that the bracer only go up to +8

I'm pretty sure it says in A&EG that the ARMOR component of Bracers of Armor can only go up to +8, but that extra abilities tacked onto them could go as high as +13( +8 with +5 of special abilities), pre epic. Of course, +13 Bracers would be terribly cost prohibative, costing 169,000g if the standard pricing sceme holds true. I can think of a lot more worthwhile things to spend that much cash on than a couple points of AC that probably won't matter anyway.

Also, the A&EG rules predate 3.5, so use them at the discression of your DM. That rule is pretty common sense anyway though...
