| #2PauperNov 17, 2008 20:36:12 | I'm not aware that it does work, as the text of Decisive Strike (the alternative Monk class feature on p.51 of the Player's Handbook II) states that you use Decisive Strike as a full-round action, which is not what you get on an attack of opportunity. If I'm wrong, I'd appreciate correction based on the build. -- Pauper |
| #3Maat_MonsNov 17, 2008 21:09:48 | The text for decisive strike also states that any attack made after you use decisive strike but before the start of your next turn deals double damage. So, you’re not using decisive strike on the attack of opportunity, but your attack of opportunity benefits from your prior use of decisive strike. |

| #5aelryinthNov 18, 2008 17:52:10 | There's a rules question on it, because it is based on FLurry of Blows being swapped out, which can only be done with UA or monk weapons. Archrpowr believes he can use Decisive Strike with any weapon, not just monk weapons, and hence can employ a good reach weapon, simply because the ability does not say he can't, instead of basing it on the limitations that FLurry is subject to. YMMV, and that of your DM. I'd get approval, first. ===Aelryinth |
| #6emansdrawkcabNov 18, 2008 22:46:24 | Archrpowr believes he can use Decisive Strike with any weapon, not just monk weapons... archerpwr believes he can because of Serpent Strike, from ECS. He didn't favorably interpret Decisive Strike. |
| #7thegodheadNov 18, 2008 23:39:48 | There's a rules question on it, because it is based on FLurry of Blows being swapped out, which can only be done with UA or monk weapons. Actually, I'm just assuming that Pole Master (SoS) works with Decisive strike. Decisive strike working on AoOs is a totally different idea. Basically you're trolling. Quit it. ![]() Sidenote: Is it really that hard to spell 'archerpwr', or is Fael just retarded? @Maat_Mons: Thanks for getting the rules for me. Have a ![]() Here's a link to the final touches I ended up making on it. |
| #8tordakNov 19, 2008 9:09:59 | The ability is somewhat poorly worded, because you need to use UA or monk special weapons to initiate the decisive strike and deal double damage on your attack (that part is clear), but the effect than applies to any other attack you make before the start of you next turn; this includes of course AoO but does not seem to limit it in the sense of weapon being used, that is it does not seem to be limited to UA or special monk weapons only while taking your AoO. I guess they supposed that if you use UA or SMW to attack that's all you're using. It is up to your DM to clarify that particular point. |
