simple enough question. what is the max to make in one day?
also, how much would a 9th level potion cost to make in terms of gp and xp?
i know what you all are thinking, it caps at 3rd level. in magic of faerun there is a prc that allows you to go to 9th lvl. its called master alchemist.
thanks for the help.

By RAW, you can only make one magic item in a day.  In just about every group I've ever been in, it's been houseruled to be 1 item or 1000 gp, whichever limit hits first, so you can spend a day making tons of cheap scrolls or potions.  Barring feats or other abilities to hasten or expand your item crafting, 1000 gp per day is the absolute limit for any magic item.

I think Eberron Campaign Setting has a feat to expand the limit.  I know the ECS has feats to lower the creation costs and time required at least.  Otherwise, the only options I know of require being really high level generally: There's an epic feat to make the limit 10,000 gp.  Or you could work on a plane with drastically faster time than the material plane (if an hour passes there in the time 6 minutes does on the material, you're effectively working 10x faster).

EDIT: Epic feat is here: www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/feats.htm#effici...

Is there any rule that allows one to make a large batch of a single potion in a day? It would still be a single item, just one that could be divided into many parts - sort of like a keg of beer.

hey thanks for the epic feat thing. looks pretty cool.  as far as i know there isnt anything else... sigh. had this awesome thing planned out. i think the alchemical savant ability of crafting as many potions as a person does in a week in a day applies.. that would be helpful

Quick Potion, is odd. It gives Duration as 1hr/lvl. Does this indicate that the potions only last 1hr/lvl? Or that the receptivity lasts 1hr/lvl?

Alchemist Savant, specifies the 1000gp/day limit.

Heh, how about locating a market someplace where potions sell super cheap? Then, technically, hitting a market price of 1000gp might be pretty tough.

The Maester Prestige Class cuts crafting times in half (one day per 2k), but is gnome only.  Keep in mind the Potions specifically only take 1 day.

Potions can only be made of 3rd level spells or below, so no high level potions for you. Also, the rules are quite obvious in that you can only brew one potion per day. Thus the Dungeon Master's Guide and Player's Handbook, respectively.

However, this is CO, so we have a smart solution to provide for even the most stringently rule-bound areas. In Magic of Faerûn, there's a PrC called the Master Alchemist or some such. Steepish prereqs: Brew Potion obviously, Magical Artisan which is bland but OK, and a worthless Skill Focus, as well as many many ranks in Craft (Alchemy). But over time you develop the ability to make Potions of any spells you know up to 9th level, at reduced price, and you can craft more potions in a day (but the 1000 gp limit still applies). That means you can actually make 40 Potions of Endure Elements (CL1) in a day, if you feel so inclined.

All in all, the PrC is not even bad, although it IS a little underwhelming. Full spellcasting though, so you don't lose anything except in opportunity cost.

Convince your DM to let you use the craft points variant from UA.

Yes, but Sanctum Spell. Also, alternate list hunt. Archivist best base, for a potioncrafter.
Low on words today.

I'm using that class too. the book says the potion's price is the spell's lvl x the caster lvl x 50gp.
Let me know how the character turns out, and I hope my post helped

edit: according to MoF you can create up to 4 potions per day at the tenth lvl of the prestige class, but only if they don't have a total market value of more than 1000gp. Now if you wanted to try to get that higher you might want to check out the Alchemist Savant in MoE, but I'm not sure if the abilities stack.
