So what started off as a joke between me and my DM has actually received the go-ahead if i can figure it out.

Books available: PH1&2, DMG1&2, Eberron (all), Complete (all), Races of (all), ToB, and with a little persuasion UA, BoED, PH, XPH.

I was thinking of having him take the Non-verbal spell from PH but that still requires some noise. Any ideas.

If the bard is not going to be silenced by SILENCE then i need some other downside to his class so that he is not too powerful. For instance I was thinking that there could be a 20%ish chance of spell failure because my target was not looking at me.

The character would be 8th lvl.

Bard 5/Mindbender 1/Whatever...

Telepathy. Sing in their heads.

It doesn't help with everything, but it's where I'd start.

vow of silence from BOED if you can. Milk your characters inability to speak for all its worth.

There is no Vow of Silence feat, but the Buomman race made one. If Music-via-Telepathy is allowed it's your best bet. Otherwise, the Subsonics feat is as close as you'll get.

Start of with 4 walls of force, for the classic mime performance.
Then a silence spell to make sure he stays in character for when panic sets in, and then you take the....

Oh, sorry I misunderstood the subject title.

If you familiarize yourself with the Pathfinder rules, even the beta ones, you'll find they have divergent abilities for singing and acting bardic music. Things like counter song for illusions, perform based confusion effects etc, really quite nifty. I'm playing a pathfinder bard right now in a campaign and find them a riot
