This benefi t even lets you quicken your sorcerer spells with the Quicken Spell feat. I don't see where this applies to any of the Metamagic feats as they stand without this feature. Please keep in mind I have a difficult time with RAW, and would appreciate an example of how this is beneficial if possible. Thanks in advance community, always appreciated! ~bluuegg |

They can choose when they cast their spells whether to apply their metamagic feats to improve them. As with other spellcasters, the improved spell uses up a higher-level spell slot. But because the sorcerer or bard has not prepared the spell in a metamagic form in advance, he must apply the metamagic feat on the spot. Therefore, such a character must also take more time to cast a metamagic spell (one enhanced by a metamagic feat) than he does to cast a regular spell. If the spell’s normal casting time is 1 standard action, casting a metamagic version is a full-round action for a sorcerer or bard. (This isn’t the same as a 1-round casting time.) For a spell with a longer casting time, it takes an extra full-round action to cast the spell. Summary: sorcerers using metamagic take longer to cast their spells, which also prevents Quicken. Metamagic Specialist frees them from this limit. Since actions are the single most important resource in the game, getting your spells to cost fewer actions is a major benefit. |

Just wanted to make sure that was explicitly understood. What is Metamagic Specialist? I usually just use the Rapid Metamagic feat. |
| #4daedhaedJul 18, 2013 8:50:09 | I believe it's an ACF for sorcerers. |
| #5Tempest_StormwindJul 18, 2013 9:51:58 | Metamagic Specialist is available at level 1 instead of level 9, but is only for sorcerers. I seem to remember it having a daily limit though. |

| #7StevenOJul 18, 2013 12:06:22 | Metamagic Specialist is available at level 1 instead of level 9, but is only for sorcerers. I seem to remember it having a daily limit though. If it is what I believe we are talking about it is an alternative class feature a Sorcerer can get instead of a familiar. It allows the use of a MM feat without the increased casting time. I know it could be used a number of times equal to the characters INT modifier plus, I believe, a fixed number of times in addition to that with 1 or 3 being most likely. I think it is in the PHB2. The "benefit" of this is that it: 1. Will eventually allow a Sorcerer to use the Quicken Spell MM feat. 2. It gives the Sorcerer back is move action which is normally consumed with his standard action when casting a MM spell as a full round action. The benefits are small but can be significant in some cases and to some characters. Also remember that some players aren't big fans of familiars thus it is an easy extra use for them. |
