| #1viperapprentaceAug 07, 2008 21:18:55 | I need help making a warforge. The problem is I have no extensive knowledge of the DND universe beyond essentially vanilla parties :P aka, fighter/monk/priest/caster/rogue/bard I usually play the bard/dirgesinger type of characters. But IM TIRED OF SITTING IN THE BACK!!! i want my moment to shine. However i don't know enough about the extensive number of classes/feats out there. These are the only conditions i have I am a warforged I Have the obese flaw + obese (Vile) a.k.a i think it will be fun to be a fat warforged weighing over 1000 pounds. I am not a caster >.> I want to be able to hold my own in a fight. I want to be able to be a pack mule ( pull a cart / carry a gnomish ally if i have to) I want to be able to move fast and have good spot/listens (I will never really need to sleep so i will always be alert and ready to go ) My first thoughts was a warforged fighter, and was just going to become a tower shield wielding bull rusher. But like i said, i know virtually nothing outside of the bard-ish trees :P Mainly looking for suggestions though. I dont expect you to build a whole character for me (unless you want to and see me post about how it did) but just suggestions on feats/classes/books. My DM has every pre-4ed book Thanks tons !!! |
| #2xoraxxAug 08, 2008 3:04:50 | You might want to look into stuff like: Dungeon Crasher Fighter substitution levels (dungeonscape) Lion Totem Barbarian Substitution (Complete Champion) Adamantine Body Feat + Warforged Juggernaut Prc (Eberron Campaign Setting) Combat Brute + Shock Trooper tactical Feats (complete warrior) Leap Attack feat (complete adventurer). maybe something like this is a good place to start: Warforged fighter 6/ barbarian 1/ warforged juggernaut 5/ Full BAB3 Adamantine Body goes with the heavy obese feel of the character I think, might want to look into getting the belt (from Magic Item Compendium) witch gives Powerfull Build so that you can qualify for the Knockback feat (Races of Stone). Hope this helps, don't know if you can fit all those feats in though. EDIT: Seems you need one flaw to pull it all off (or take 2 more levels as a fighter after Warforged Juggernaut): Flaw: Willing deformity 1 Adamantine Body 1f Power Attack 3 Deformity (obese) 4f Improved Bull Rush 6 Improved Sunder 9 Combat Brute 12 Shock Trooper 15 Leap Attack 18 Knockback |

| #4xoraxxAug 08, 2008 3:30:15 | Does this item actually exist and I just missed it completely? Well I think I saw it once, but can't remember the name.. I'll try looking for it .EDIT: I meant Strongarm Bracers but I was wrong they dont give powerfull build only the ability to wield larger weapons. |
| #5viperapprentaceAug 08, 2008 7:33:33 | what books do i need for all those feats? |
| #6gilfalas_elaandrinAug 08, 2008 9:42:17 | I want to be able to move fast and have good spot/listens (I will never really need to sleep so i will always be alert and ready to go ) Quick Reconnoiter from PHB 2 I think allows you a spot and listen roll every combat round as free actions. Makes you the ultimate watchdog. Try a few Levels of Warblade (From Tome of Battle). Even just two allows a lot of nice abilities and boosts. With Adamant body you don't have to worry about the classes armor restrictions and a d12 HD plus stances and maneuvers is always fun. Plus Warblade has a nice Skill point per level amount to help with Spot and Listen. |
| #7viperapprentaceAug 08, 2008 14:43:52 | well i was looking into the compilation of 1st-10th level characters thread and the lvl 1 charger interested me (replaceing the human with a warforged of course) but i was thinking of doing a warforge charger (warblade) with vow of poverty + those bracers that allow a larger weapon. Combine the later damage reduc of vow of poverty with the damage reduc from adamantine = pretty darn cool. so 2 levels of warblade / 6 fighter/ then someone mentioned that there is a barbarian ???? feat that gives resistances to heat and cold. anyone know anything about this? |
| #8blargney_the_secondAug 08, 2008 15:26:05 | If you want a warforged charger, here's a snapshot at level 9 of a build stub that's done really good things for me. Race: dragonborn (wings) warforged Classes: Warblade 1, Divine Mind 1, Fighter 1, Warblade X Feats: Adamantine Body, Power Attack, Psionic Weapon, Deep Impact, Improved Flight Divine Mind: Freedom mantle, Attack aura always on Stances: Leading the Charge, Pearl of Black Doubt Maneuvers: Moment of Perfect Mind, White Raven Tactics, Ruby Nightmare Blade, Bounding Assault Skills: Concentration max Abilities (28 PB, after racials): Str 15, Dex 12, Con 18, Int 12, Wis 8, Cha 8 Equipment: strongarm bracers, large gloryborn ripper, animated shield Tactics: Leading the Charge is default stance. First round, close using Bounding Assault - fly up then diving charge down for double damage. Deep Impact with full PA should be (6d6 + about 7x or 8x level). Honestly, there's often not much left after that. At lower levels he used things like Emerald Razor, Rabid Wolf Strike, and Sapphire Nightmare Blade. If you tacked on a level of lion totem barbarian he would be incredibly potent. -blarg |
| #9viperapprentaceAug 08, 2008 15:54:54 | i wish but i cant, I cannot use anything with a level adjustment other then +0 DMS rules ![]() which just leaves me with the standard warforged. |
| #10kedralAug 08, 2008 16:22:15 | Dragonborne doesn't add a level adjustment. It's from the book races of the dragon. However a flying warforged sounds dumb, but it's probably pretty effective. |
| #11woodenbandmanAug 11, 2008 19:07:21 | Nightmare, Chaotic Evil Warforged Warblade 20 No ridiculous min/maxing on this one, It takes too much effort and this is fairly straightforward, really. Flaws: Poor Reflexes, Defenseless Feats: Adamantine Body, Improved Grapple, Improved Unarmed Strike (get a battlefist as soon as possible) Crusader1: starting feats Crusader3: Superior Unarmed Strike Crusader5: Bonus Feat Crusader6: Power Attack Crusader9: Improved Sunder, Bonus Feat Crusader12: Combat Brute Crusader13: Bonus Feat Crusader15: Cleave or Earth's Embrace Crusader17: Bonus Crusader18: Great Cleave or Your Choice If I calculated this right, and your DM allows it (as he should) you will have an unarmed strike that deals damage as a monk of your character level. The Battlefist increases your unarmed strike to 1d8, your superior unarmed strike feat increases the die steps a total of 5 times, which goes 1d8>1d10>2d6>2d8>2d10. Which is great, because you can also grapple with it and deal 2d10 + STR bonus + Weapon Enhancement bonus. Starting stats should be self-evident, but the main points include STR 18 CON 18. Try hard to get over 30 strength by endgame. Now for maneuvers. You should be able to figure out which ones are cool, but for some starting points: Charging Minotaur Stone Bones Moment of Perfect Mind Stances Leading the Charge (does this apply to you, or not? I couldn't get a definite answer. If not, then Blood in the Water or perhaps Punishing Stance. I'm not going to bother learning all the maneuvers so that I can offer you guidance here, but chances are that if you play this character you know how he fights and can compensate for my lack of knowledge of the ToB with your knowledge of Nightmare's character (and implicit knowledge of the ToB) Originally posted in the thread about transfering characters from pop culture and/or videogames. Hope you enjoy it. EDIT: Throw in Scorpion Claw from Sandstorm, please. |
| #12nanshorkAug 11, 2008 19:28:44 | Two things. 1) You can't take a vile feat and Vow of Poverty at the same time. 2) You don't want to take Vow of Poverty. You need your magic items. |
| #13dawnmorAug 13, 2008 1:04:00 | I was reading through my Thumb stick drive and found what comes out to be called a...... Cannon Forged. Its pretty much your basic Warforged. Crusader 13, Fighter 2, Warforged Juggernaught 5 Feats are up to you really. But Adamantite is the must feat for this build. Try to get some DR, your gonna need it. Grab Leadership to grab a Wizard Cohort, youll DEFINATELY! need him to buff your sorry butt. Magic items are required: Ring of Featherfall, Ring of Englarge person/monster. But heres the basic idea for him. Enlarged and Flying *By some means*, your flying along and see someone down on the ground in trouble. Not really caring about personal safety you decide to talk over the situation with your Cohort who of course readily agree's to back you up. You jump off from 20,000 ft in the air and activate featherfall on your ring (This buy's you some time). Enlarge yourself (Now your Huge size). Featherfall down to say 100ft, Roll up into a ball and deactivate your ring of featherfall RIGHT over the bad guy's. DOWN........DOWN........WEEEE DOWN........You drop, OUCH!, 10d6 damage. Thats nothing (Thanks to DR and Martial spirit stance), Oh look you just struck like 20 people with your huge size, WOOT!! 40HP recovered, another few pts negated (thanks to DR and Martial spirit stance), So you have like 15 pts of actual damage done to you, but your foes have fallen and you didnt even lift a finger. (Walks away crying oil out of your eye's). Well thats the way Martial spirit should be ran sense you DID! strike them in a rather unorthodox way.Your Cohort on the otherhand, being pure back up comes flying down and thwacks one of the dead guys on the head. Then your Cohort gets all the glory cuz your crying oil .Sorry about the Story, had to give a way to REALLY! play this character. As for the Cohort. Make him a Changling (Duel Specialize and Focused Specialist). Go make him a Wizard (Duel specialist)/Recaster/Nightmare dreamer/Archmage. Get him a super smart Robe of eye's and your set .OK! enough of my ramblings. |
