I rolled 16, 14, 14, 14, 13, 13, what race/class should I pick?

Hi all,

As the title, I rolled 6 ability scores, not too bad, not too good.

I like wizards, but the highest is 16, 18 for grayelf, which hurts.

Any suggestions on which race/class I should pick?

The game starts at ECL 1. Also I can take two flaws. And Psionics are not allowed (DM ruled that they are LA+2).

Thanks!

16 is very workable as a primary stat. Pretty much anything with those stats.

hm? With those stats, you really can be anything you want. Really.

However, I would personally be itching to play a MAD class. Go Monk, Psychic Warrior... er... no PW, I guess...

16 Int does -not- hurt a Wizard. Sure, it's not an 18, but it's hella not bad. Combined with 14 Dex, 14 Con... yeah- you could be pretty sick.

I'd comment on race, but that really needs to be determined after class. Human is always good.

Venerable Loredrake Dragonwrought Koblod Sorcerer is always a valid option. +3 mental stats for the cost of a feat... 3rd level casting... it beats the hell out of ECL 3 first level psionics, lol.

Thanks a lot for the replies!

Heehe, the DM might kick my butt if I use that Kobold. He even banned Dungeon Crasher and Dervish...

I have made up my mind, a grayelf focused specialist conjurer. (Broken?)

Still, curious about the terms "venerable" and "loredrake", where can I find them?

Thanks again!

Venerable is an age category. The tricky bit is that if you make a Dragonwrought Kobold (take a Dragonwrought feat at level 1), you can be Venerable (+3 to all mental stats), because creatures of the Dragon type take no penalty to their physical stats from aging, and that feat makes the Kobold a dragon type.

And I agree, with stats like that, I'd lean toward either a Bard, Monk, or PsiWar, due to your ability to assuage MAD. You've got a reasonable score in all stats.

I would go for one of those Fochlucan Lyrist builds. When are you ever going to have the stats for that again. Besides if you build it right, then you can have 9th lvl wiz spells, 6th lvl druid spells, max UMD, trapfinding, 16 BAB and very high bardic knowledge and music. You can even smuggle in track and max survival.

I dont see how you are hitting 16 bab and 9th level wiz spells

bard 1-0
rouge 2-1 bab
druid 1-0 bab
wizard 4-2 bab
bladesinger 1-1 bab
spellsword 1-1 bab
fl 10-10 bab

That nets you 15 bab and 8th level. Are you perhaps using Divine Oracle and a dm ruling on prescient sense?

That said, i think FL could be a good choice if you are starting fairly high.

A lockdown fighter type with spiked chain tripping and AoOs.

16 Str, 14 Dex, 14 Con, 13 Int, 14 Wis, 13 Cha

Good physical stats, better than average Will save for a melee type, Min Int for Combat Expertise/Improved Trip.

If Changeling race is available, Fighter 4/Warshaper 4/etc.

Heck, those are great stats for a Chamelion(Races of Destiny PrC).
Changeling Rogue 3/Fighter 2/Warshaper 4/Chamelion 7/? 4
Good choices for ? include Swordsage(Island of Blades is great synergy with reach and rogue levels and Wis to AC in light armor never hurt anyone), Lion Totem Barbarian, more Fighter levels(if there are feats you really want but can't afford to get)

And since you're a Changeling with 13 Cha you might want to think about the 1st level racial substitution: lose trapfinding to gain the ability to take 10 on five social skills and some other minor benefits, even under stress. Even better, you get (10+Int)x4 Skill points at level 1, so you can afford to invest in some of these.

Add 1 more BAB. Barbarians have Full BAB.

Sublime Chord!
And get evasion in some other manner than Rog2 or Monk2, such as the incarnum feats, a ring, or use partial bab.

Bard 2 - 1
Druid 3 - 2
Green Whisperer 4 - 3
Any Full BAB/arcane caster 1 - 1
Sublime Chord 1 - 0
Foch. Lyrist 9 - 9

This nets your 9th lvl wiz/sorc spells, along with 8th lvl druid spells, and 16 bab. Or if you use partials, drop the full bab/arcane for another level of GW, and get 9th arcane, 9th druid, and 16 bab.

You can also use several prestige classes to get the bardic class abilities, or several shady ways to get speak druidic, or a casting advancing class that grants evasion, such as combat medic. In short, there are quite a few ways to pull it off.

bard, monk: Rolling good stats isn't a reason to pick a lousy class.

If you want a caster, go caster. You'll do great with a 16 or 18. You can also be a good martial class. Do whatever. You need a high con and usually a high dex, so that's already 3 of your 4 decent stats on a normal character. 2 other tricks:
2 level paladin dip for saves (martial character)
Be an old grey elf, if your DM allows it. You'll take physical penalties, but you have the stats to handle it. Int 20, str 8, dex 12, con 8, wis 16, cha 16.

bard is lousy, cause they can do nothing but sing (at least that's how i see it).

16/14/14/14/13/13 is equal to 38PB.... try making a character with 25 PB like I always have, then you realize that your stats ROCK!

Cowzrul is right. The only things that I might do differently, is take Sublime Chord 2/F. Lyrist 8 since you still have 8th lvl druid spells this way, but gain song of arcane power. Also, although less optimized, I hate taking evasion with some trick or magic item that if destroyed would lock me out of F. lyrist abilities, so I would replace 2 Druid lvls with 2 rogue lvls. Now you get 7th lvl Druid spells which is less optimized, but if you go human and take able learner, then you can max out disable device and be the rogue for the party in addition to the buffer-druid-wizard-fighter.

Sublime Chord!

Bard 2 - 1
Druid 3 - 2
Green Whisperer 4 - 3

If you don't want to lose BAB by taking that lone Bard level just make your character a Rilkan Rogue and take the 3rd substitution level. You'll lose Trap Sense but net Bardic Knowledge and a bonus feat. But don't take the 1st substitution level, losing sneak attack dice sucks.

I know, Rilkans are sub-par, but it's always an option.

You could always do:
Bard 8 / Arcane Archer 2 / Sublime Chord 2 / Abjurant Champion 5 / Unseen Seer 3

bard is lousy, cause they can do nothing but sing (at least that's how i see it).

Simply not so. Bards make good support classes, as the standard Bard/Virtuoso/Sublime Chord goes, you get singing, PLUS 9th-level casting. I like to toss in two levels of Lyric Thaumaturge too. Lyric Spell (feat) gives you a use for all those extra songs (more spells), and between Inspirational Boost, Song of the Heart, and the Badge of Valor, you're looking at +4/+4 at low levels, more later. Singing is useful when you embeefinate it.

On the other front, bards make excellent gishes as well. Snowflake wardance, or any number of other combinations (warblade/crusader, with song of the white raven), make a bard pretty good.

Core-only, bards are weak. But there are a lot of good ways to keep the bard's singing and buffing at the forefront and cure their CKS.

EDIT: Personally, with those stats, I'd go for the Beshadowed Blade. A swordsage-dominant TWF damage-dealing machine. Perhaps in Whispergnome (if you can get away without favored class issues). But the beshadowed blade is SAD in dex, but gains a lot from good offstats.

Venerable is as Pfooti said, loredrake is an option out of Dragons of Eberron that allows you to exchange the size of your racial HD(which you don't have so you don't suffer from) for extra sorcoror casting.
