| #1jaxtorMay 12, 2010 15:13:03 | The concept with this build is being self sufficient. Your not limited by the number of spells you can cast or if some thief steals something your suddenly worse than before. I call it the "Say no to magic" build. His AC could be better for sure but 27 ac for touch isn't to shabby. The feat list has weapon focus unarmed and combat expertise. I was at a loss for what else to take so I just grabbed those two but they are flexible. I want to take a few more lvls in kensai for the ability to increase my unarmed attacks specials, maybe give my self the defending quality. The goal is to be able to survive. So what do you think? | #2Maat_MonsMay 12, 2010 16:50:54 | If you'd consider changing the ability score you focus on: Fist of the forest (Complete Champion) gives you a bonus to AC equal to your con modifier at 1st level. Deepwarden (Races of Stone) lets you replace your dex bonus to AC with your con bonus to AC. Dragonborn mongrelfolk (Races of the Dragon, Races of Destiny) gives you +6 con, -2 dex, -2 int, -4 cha. Unfortunately, not being a dwarf means you need to take 3 levels of stoneblessed (Races of Stone) to qualify for deepwarden. On the plus side, stoneblessed 3 gives you +2 con. If you fit that stuff in and switch your con and wis, you should get +12 AC and +70 HP. Steadfast determination (Player's Handbook II) lets you use con instead of wis for will saves, so you wouldn't need to be losing anything there (gaining +4, actually). In the level adjusted realm, there's afflicted were advanced dire badger (+12 str, +4 dex, +12 con, +2 wis, +7 natural armor, 2 LA, 4 HD), probably on a dragonborn (+2 con, -2 dex, 0 LA, 0 HD) earth dwarf (+2 str, +2 con, -2 dex, -2 cha, 0 LA, 0 HD). |
| #3jaxtorMay 13, 2010 2:40:41 | That would help my AC considerably however for a 10th lvl build I would lose out on Mettle which is important. I would lose charisma which lowers my saves which are one of the more important points of this build at least in my opinion. Now if there was a way to add my con bonus to all of my saves that would be very interesting. |
| #4carnivoreMay 14, 2010 10:19:59 | why not just make a build that works with the correct alignments and is even better: Human Lawful Good Monk 2/ Paladin 3/ Pious Templar 3/ Kensai 2 advantages: larger .... more Skills Weapon Specialization .... then Weapon Mastery too legal ... fullfills reqs with no need for DM approval very Thematic ![]() |
| #5jaxtorMay 14, 2010 11:26:11 | I do like that one actually but I was wanting the immune to compulsion effect from the variant paladin. Is there a variant monk class that allows say Chaotic for an alignment? And originaly I did go Pious templar when I first wrote this up but I replaced it with Hex blade because it requires less feats and gives me my charisma to my saves vs spells for a second stacking. Though I do like weapon spec.... |
| #6EndarireMay 15, 2010 3:25:15 | She may be self-sufficient depending on her build, but when a Hood can one-shot or one-round nearly any foe she can hit, who needs self-sufficiency? |
| #7jaxtorMay 15, 2010 11:31:24 | :: goes to look at the hood... Comes back :: way to long, don't know a DM that would take the time / waist the time to put that enemy in the game. Most DM's use normal monsters or advanced monsters they tweaked some how. I like an optimized character not broken ones. Besides why play the game if you sit at the table with a stack of magazines and when the DM says something alls you do is drop a d20 and say "Did I roll a 1? No? Ok it died." |
| #8necrosnoop110May 17, 2010 16:31:53 | Is there a variant monk class that allows say Chaotic for an alignment? Chaos Monk (Dragon #355) |
| #9cycadaMay 17, 2010 19:48:45 | I believe that the Ordered Chaos feat from one of the Fiendish Codex books will allow you to be chaotic and still qualify for lawful alignment. I'm not sure if the wording says so or not, so you may have to work with your DM depending on the exact text. Hope that helps. :\ ~Cycada |
