Idea! Duskblade Arcane Archer.

Oct 05, 2010 14:10:12 So. An Idea ive been playing with in my mind lately has been using the Duskblades Spell channelling in conjunction with the Arcane Archers Imbue Arrow.

Now im fully aware the Duskblades are melee bred, but the synergy between the two is a simple weapon:

The Sword-Bow. Preferably a Great Sword-Bow. Ive been playing around with the idea in my mind for a while, not exactly sure how to tie it together. I can think as far as Duskblade 6/ Arcane Archer 2. But from there, im stumped on how to optimize this for playability. Would the board like to help me a bit?

Oct 05, 2010 17:15:31 im not 100% sure what synergy you are going for is it just that with a sword bow you only need one weapon to take advantage of the 2 class features.
but i a good option in my oppinion for any duskblade build is to get into suel arcanamach and you may want to look into spellwarp sniper as well for some added fun with your range spells

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but it's carnivore's Duskblade/Arcane Archer build.

I've always liked the Suel Arcanamach, but I dont like having to manage 2 seperate spell lists, since Suel cant use the duskblade spells with its abilities. Or can it?

I was thinking along the lines of the feat progression, just enough to make it viable in the event of needing to make some distance between the duskblade and say, a horde of gnoll. I.E. In a full round attack, he drops two with his first two attacks, has two more attacks, and the rest of the gnoll are at least 15' out of his reach. So he switches his swordbow into bow mode and starts volleying a few from a distance.

I guess mostly this is just a flavorful optimization im getting at.

Oct 06, 2010 5:57:46 Carnivores build uses Abjurant Champions capstone ability to set your CL to your BAB.

the two builds can be annoying but you will only have 5-6 levels of duskblade casting so only up to 2nd level spells. and the abilites of both classes work off of any spell they know.

Oct 06, 2010 6:16:38 Ahhhh I see! That actually may be perfect for my idea. I dnt know about the Rapier thing though. Im still kind of settled on using a Swordbow lol

Maybe theres even a way to fit some Warblade levels in the build? I dnt know, now im just brimming with Ideas!
