| #1cygnusdariusApr 30, 2008 2:03:58 | So we're going to kick off our last 3.5 game, and I just threw a pretty nice set. 12 14 16 16 17 18 So I've been thinking to make a druid, since there's already going to a cleric and a paladin in the group. The game's going to played once -maybe twice- a month, so I don't expect the druid to reach high levels, but I do intend to get to wild shape. So I was thinking on this: Human Druid Feats: 1.- Improved Unarmed Strike 1.- Improved Grapple Str 14 Dex 16 Con 17 Int 16 Wis 18 Cha 12 As I mentioned above, there's a human cleric, a human paladin, a half-elf ranger, a dwarf barbarian, and a human rogue with hopes to multiclass into sorcerer. Also, I was thinking either that or maybe head into super mount (therefore, changing into halfling or gnome, and fiddle the stats), but I can't find the build in the Druid's Handbook. The only books allowed are Core, by the way. |

| #4x-codesApr 30, 2008 5:24:09 | The reason Supermount! isn't in the Druid handbook is because, while awesome, Supermount! falls far short of the Druid in power. Furthermore, you can't make Supermount! in core. You need Devoted Tracker at the least, and Halfling Outrider makes the build a lot better about 99% of the time. Best alternative? Just be a combat druid. Pick up Power Attack and shape into Bears or Cats. IUS is little more than a neat trick without Monk levels, and Grappling is, as always, a joke. |
| #5ChristopherGrovesApr 30, 2008 6:24:39 | Why not monk 1, btw? |
| #6cygnusdariusApr 30, 2008 16:02:53 | Why not monk 1, btw? I've been thinking about that one, but the DM hates de "1 level dip" unless it's heavily justified (not that I'm bad with roleplay, but right now I can't think of a really good reason). |
| #7phaedrusxyApr 30, 2008 17:02:58 | I probably wouldn't bother with IUS and Imp. Grapple. Most bears have Improved Grab. Some of the big cats with pounce probably do too. Although, in a core only game, what else are you going to do with your feats? lol Stereotypical RP justification for a 1 level monk dip: I was an orphan, abandoned on the steps of a monastery. I later found that I felt more at home in nature than seeking inner enlightenment "in a vacuum". ;) |
| #8jameswilliamogleApr 30, 2008 19:01:42 | IUS lets you get iterative unarmed strikes. Works great with Pounce forms. |
| #9moodyApr 30, 2008 19:42:35 | I like to take Improved Grapple as a Druid too. |
| #10x-codesMay 01, 2008 3:58:39 | IUS lets you get iterative unarmed strikes. Works great with Pounce forms. 3 more attacks, but seriously they deal piddly damage and make all your natural weapons secondary attacks. Net gain is really not that much. |

If you are solo'ing, sure. If you have a Wizard w/ GMW, and can get Power Attack, though... More attacks, even at penalties means more 20's. I think its worth it, plus nothing is more demoralizing to a fighter than watching the Druid roll 8d20 when he attacks. :D |
| #12cygnusdariusMay 03, 2008 10:54:56 | If you are solo'ing, sure. If you have a Wizard w/ GMW, and can get Power Attack, though... Now that's just cruel... And full of truthiness. |
| #13x-codesMay 04, 2008 5:04:09 | If you are solo'ing, sure. If you have a Wizard w/ GMW, and can get Power Attack, though... Oh please, critical hits increase overall damage output by 5%, thats it. It's not super awesome or something because you're rolling more dice. |
| #14wwad_dupMay 04, 2008 8:46:06 | While you can't go Supermount! you could become the mount for your Paladin ![]() Imp Trip is nice because it gives you options to turn attacks into touch attacks. Power Attack always (what's the point of having 30 str if you can't break things). Natural Spell is a given. |

Natural Spell is a given. +1 Improved Trip is a good idea as it concentrates on your strengths (size and strength) and gets past your weakness (BAB). |
