| #1hunanoidNov 12, 2010 19:38:29 | So, I was looking into the Ur-Priest the other day, and I was trying to think of some potential builds for it, which would look something like Duskblade 6/Ur-Priest 10/ Something Else 4. I mainly chose Duskblade because of the Channeling Ability (Harm delivered through a Greatsword sounds nice), Spell Power +2 is always nice, and Quick Casting 1/day. Any opinions/suggestions/snide remarks? |
| #2ObsidianConspiracyNov 12, 2010 19:45:59 | I'm partial to using a sorcerer/Wizard then going for a two level dip into Ur-Priest... and then Mystic Theurge to advance both levels of casting, before basically being an absolute monstrosity of a gish... using divine magic to buff up, with DMM cheese on divine power ect. And persisting wraithstrike via normal metamagic, and just ruining the fighters day by outpowering him (Which happened) I used Battle Sorcerer, more HP, armoured casting and also a charisma caster, which synergizes well with turn attempt boosting |
| #3WyvernhandNov 14, 2010 12:25:15 | Sacreligious Fist? Duskblade3/Monk2/Ur-Priest2/SacredFist10/X3 Full Ur casting, 12th level monk abilities (Greater Flurry), Superior UAS increases that to 16th level monk damage. Rebuke Undead to power DMM: Persist for Righteous Might for a size boost. Its 18/20 BAB, assuming that X3 is full BAB, so you don't really need to persist Divine Power, freeing you up for a different persist spell like Righteous Wrath of the Faithful (extra attack per round and mad bonuses). Also, you can still punch people with Harm. |
| #4gorfnad_the_shiznitNov 14, 2010 18:26:38 | Sacreligious Fist? X3 = Enlightened Fist ![]() I partial to this Ur-Priest build myself: Hellfire Ur-Lock Warlock 4/ Binder 1/ Ur-Priest 2/ Eldritch Disciple 2/ Hellfire Warlock 3/ Eldritch Disciple 8 |
| #5maharai23Nov 19, 2010 2:21:16 | Spellthief 4 / Savage Bard 2 / Ur Priest 10 / Wizard 1 / Sorceror 1 / Beguiler 1 / Duskblade 1 Spellthief CL (with master spellthief) - 10 Bard CL - 10 Wizard CL - 10 Sorceror CL - 10 Beguiler CL - 10 Duskblade CL - 10 Ur Priest CL - 60 (10 + CL of each arcane class, per Ur Priest entry). Have fun with DMM Persist Miracle for Owl's Insight (+30 Insight bonus to wisdom). Beyond that, find any other spells which would benefit from high CL, and knock it out. |
| #6gorfnad_the_shiznitNov 19, 2010 3:31:18 | Spellthief 4 / Savage Bard 2 / Ur Priest 10 / Wizard 1 / Sorceror 1 / Beguiler 1 / Duskblade 1 Blasphemy with CL 60 ![]() |
| #7KruskNov 19, 2010 9:57:06 | Spellthief 4 / Savage Bard 2 / Ur Priest 10 / Wizard 1 / Sorceror 1 / Beguiler 1 / Duskblade 1 Can you explain? I keep rereading it, and come up with Spellthief CL=4, bard 2, Ur Priest 15, wizard 1, sorcerer 1, beguiler 1, duskblade 1. Much less impressive. |
| #8maharai23Nov 20, 2010 1:53:01 | The Master Spellthief Feat (Complete Scoundrel) basically states: Your spellthief levels stack with all other arcane caster levels for determining your caster level for all arcane spellcasting classes. Spellthief CL is 1/2 class levels, or 2. All others are = class level. Ur Priest is All arcane caster level + ur priest level. |
| #9KruskNov 20, 2010 10:10:54 | Opened the book and read that feat applies it to Ur priest says Complete Divine PG. 70. to determine the caster level of an ur-priest, add the character's ur-priest levels to one-half of his levels in other spellcasting classes. Note it does not say 1/2 caster levels in all other classes, but rather levels in other spellcasting classes. So while you do end up with
You still have ur priest CL 15. |
| #10pimpadillioNov 23, 2010 16:57:24 | warlock 5 bloodmage3 ur-priest2 eldritch disciple 10 flavorful as hell, fun to play, and pretty powerful in the right hands, keep away from DMM as that is for whores **** and characters with it has a tendency to come down with terminal cancer in the campaigns I play in, and bolts of cold iron in the ones I DM. The biggest letdown of the build is the need for the toughness feat, but there's probably substitutes for that one, somewhere, and you need to die and ress before level 6... Justifying eldritch disciple is not an obstacle but an oportunity for you to go on a quest to ascend a fallen god( now archdemon or somesuch) to godhood once again, and he can be the same dude that made you a warlock, you can work quite a lot of different angles to make it work^^ and walking around with a character that has worldshaking spells scarred in to his skin is pretty badass too, I keep feeling like castiel from that one episode of supernatural... ;) |
| #11Christof_RomulusNov 23, 2010 17:21:52 | Krusk, Actually, Ur-Priest does add 1/2 caster level from all of those classes. It doesn't say pick a class, it says simply add it to 1/2 the other clases. Spell thief levels boost all other spellcasting classes, provided they are Arcane, simultaneously. So, 10 levels of spellthief and 10 levels of sorcerer is a caster level of 20, which converts to 10 when added to Ur-priest of 10. Using just Sorcerer and Spelltheif and Urpeist: (10+10)/2+10 = 20 You repeat that down the line, adding 10 for every class, +10 for Urpeist and you come out to a caster level of 60. Yes, Ur-priest is stupid-broken powerful. I believe you'll find a post on this board that talks about that, actually, mentioning that any DM that allows Ur-Priest into their campaign is either stupid or doesn't know what they're doing. |
| #12KruskNov 23, 2010 20:02:17 | I literally posted the text from the book... Thats not what it says at all. Yes ur-priest is stupid broken, but thats not why. Its stupid broken because you start as a wizard, can grab a level, and then prestige class into something like mystic theuruge and grab full casting in both cleric and wizard. Ur priest says it takes levels in those classes. Spellthief says it boosts caster levels. Caster levels are not levels. Spell thief says add caster levels. Ur priest doesn't care about caster level, only class levels. |
| #13ObsidianConspiracyNov 23, 2010 20:45:06 | Krusk, I believe, is right., so a level 10 Ur-priest can, pre epic, only reach a caster level of 15. Also Ur-Priest is broken because a 2 level dip nets you DMM, then go mystic theurge :P |
| #14Christof_RomulusNov 24, 2010 2:40:09 | After doing the math again it's still a caster level of 35, you're adding 1/2 the levels in each class, not caster level - but you still add them. |
| #15KruskNov 24, 2010 9:52:49 | Ur priest says Was going to argue, but I don't know that you have read ur priest. Even though I have posted the section in question. Here it is again. I will also include the spellthief bit, because maybe thats where you are confused. PG. 79 Complete Scoundrel Your spellthief and arcane spellcaster levels also stack when determining your caster level for all arcane classes. Note it doesn't say "They stack for determining class levels, but caster levels. |
