| #1pivotalApr 22, 2008 2:16:16 | Okey, so I need some inspiration here. I have theese stats: 17,12,12,12,9,6 and I want to make something a bit interesting thats not a straight caster like psion or wizard. I can use more or less any official books but its most likly forgotten realms specific, so any eberron stuff that isnt very easily converted in flavor or have a very neutral flavor doesn't work well. I have been thinking about a whisper gnome druid going for 10 str, 11 dex, 14 con, 12 int, 17 wis, 4 cha. We will be starting on lvl 3-4 so I should be able to keep my own with my animal companion and spellcasting until I get wildshape stuffs. Im also considering adding dragonborn template to that but I'm kind of sick of playing dragonborn and whisper gnomes have pretty decent racial abilities. But yeah, I really want some other good interesting ideas for a build. The stats are okey I guess. Though another in the group rolled insansly. He rolled 18,18,18,17,16,13. I wanna kill the guy :P |

If not, well, I'm not about to call anyone a liar, but thats pretty unlikely. Not to say I havent seen someone roll 18, 18, 18, 18, 18, 17. The gm was kinda ******, and we rolled the dice about a hundred times, only 2 or 3 18's came up after that. so it was pretty nuts. inspiration wise though, I have that problem too, a lot. Whenever I can't decide what I want to play, I fall back on the good 'ole fighter. Have you played a ranged Fighter? complete with A Masterwork composite Greatbow (1d10 x3) Turn that 17 into an 18 dex. Make your bow Composite 1 (or you could do composite 2 and take Efficient Pull* which would make your bow deal 1d10+2 (or plus 3 when within 30 feet if you take point blank shot) Mixed with rapid shot, you got yourself a pretty decent fighter thar. Just a thought, Fighters are my favorite class to play and build. They are my fallback when I am stuck in an uninspired rut. Good luck! *[General, Fighter] (DR350 p90) Point Blank Shot Treat your Strength as being +2 when wielding a Strength-rated (i.e., Mighty) Longbow. |
| #3pivotalApr 22, 2008 3:47:14 | This is charop. Fighter is a class that is 2 levels long. Also, since when was archers outside of highly specialized and tweaked high level builds viable? And yeah, we all watched him roll :p damn lucky bastard :p |
| #4carnivoreApr 22, 2008 5:53:23 | if you want some fun try this: Dragonborn Warforged ... and Druid Variant stats: 17,12,12,12,9,6 before adjusting for racial abilities... - 12 Str 12 Dex 12 Con 9 Int 17 Wis 6 Cha Feat: Intuitve Attack ...... Wis to attack with natural Weapons and Unarmed Simple Variant official Game FAQ What, if any, templates can a warforged have applied? and take the Feat: Improved Fortification[Warforged] (Eb p55)req:Warforged,Base Attack Bonus +6 You become immune to Critical Hits and Sneak Attacks, but cannot be healed by Conj(healing) spells. |
| #5pivotalApr 22, 2008 8:21:40 | carnivore: Not a bad idea but warforged druids have to take the feat to remove their armor. And I also said in my OP that very eberron spesific stuff was a no-no. |
| #6jameswilliamogleApr 22, 2008 9:00:36 | Why not play a Binder? Tons of flavor, lots of stuff to choose from daily. Try to get all the web enhancements allowed ahead of time (or slightly modified). Consolidated Binder Handbook in my sig. Alternatively, Paladin has some great options in Faerun. |
| #7WyvernhandApr 22, 2008 10:46:10 | BARD! Bards arn't very MAD, which you need with your stats. Str 12 Dex 9 Con 12 Int 12 Wis 6 Cha 17 Go Bard6/Mindbender1/Bard3/SC2/Virtuoso8 or something similar. Go Dragonfire Inspiration (Silverbrow Human or Draconic Heritage stuff) to get a cool damage type like Copper (acid). Pick up Song of the Heart (Ebberon feat, but not very setting specific) for +1 to your Inspire. Use other typical Inspire Shananagans to get your +xd6 damage up. Take Mindsight (LoMadness) which allows you to use your Mindbender telepathy to "see" inteligent creatures, which functions as a quasi-see invisibility, always nice. Utilize spells that disable (Glitterdust, Solid Fog) with your primary attack spell being a Whirling Bladed Harmonizing Rapier or something. You can add disable to the mix by buying a Sudden Stunning (DMGII +2k gold) enhancement to your weapon. This forces Cha based reflex saves on people you hit in melee (or with Whirling Blade) or stun them for 1d4+1 rounds. Its pretty potent. This way, you can be just as (if not more) effective than Mr. IROLLALL18SLOL even with your stats. All you really need to do is keep your Cha pumped up and get some Con as a 2ndary stat. Everyone needs Con. You'll have disable, control, damage, utility and buff roles all handled with a single character, and you'll do them all pretty well. |
| #8carnivoreApr 22, 2008 10:52:47 | carnivore: Not a bad idea but warforged druids have to take the feat to remove their armor. And I also said in my OP that very eberron spesific stuff was a no-no. no not really .... that is why i included the FAQ about the benifits of being a Dragonborn Warforged... they lose their Composite Plating, but can still take Mithral Body or Adamantine Body, although they have No Plating ;) but you are right, i forgot about the "No Eberron" part.... :D |
| #9sinfire_titanApr 22, 2008 10:57:53 | carnivore: Not a bad idea but warforged druids have to take the feat to remove their armor. And I also said in my OP that very eberron spesific stuff was a no-no. Warforged aren't Eberron-specific though. They were first printed in MM3, then brought back in the ECS. |
| #10carnivoreApr 22, 2008 11:02:52 | i was under the impression Eberron came out before MM3 :D |
| #11aftercrescentApr 22, 2008 11:58:58 | Eberron - June 2004 MM3 - August 2004 ![]() |
| #12sinfire_titanApr 22, 2008 12:32:01 | Eberron - June 2004 That's what I get for not checking the damn books. In any case, Warforged are not Eberron-specific. They are in any campaign that allows MM3. |
| #13aftercrescentApr 22, 2008 12:43:17 | That's what I get for not checking the damn books. Very true. The only problem could be in getting access to warforged specific feats that are not in MM3. It is sad that the feats there are so limited ![]() |
| #14blargney_the_secondApr 22, 2008 14:37:27 | Crusader. It's the least stat-dependent class I've ever seen. Put the 17 in Str, and the rest can go pretty much wherever you want. |
| #15operation_shoestringApr 22, 2008 14:53:08 | BARD! NO NO No. do not lose SC caster levels. bard6/Virtuoso2/Anything2/Sublime Chord2/Virtuoso+8 I suggest Paladin of Freedom for "anything" |
