Thinking of going monk or perhaps swordsage. I know there are some feats like Throw anything that could help, but I don't know what feats/PRC to do. |
| #2danduAug 06, 2009 14:29:29 | Drunken Master is the prestige class for this. It leads to funny builds. |
| #3fisharewetAug 06, 2009 16:17:18 | Soooo Drunken Master, such a fun class. In our current game with have a Drunken Master who uses a 300lb boat anchor as his weapon, and just incase we go up against DR/adamantine, he broke the leg off a contruct a couple games back and beats people with it. |
| #4felgorothAug 06, 2009 20:50:42 | Definitely Drunken Master also if you want to do Jackie Chan like stunts check out the Skill Tricks in Complete Scoundrel |
| #5dr_rocktopusAug 07, 2009 1:27:27 | There's also my... older build, the monkey king. Basically, the fourth level ability of drunken master states that you get reach appropriate to your weapon's length. Okay. Back up. This is the one time in D&D where the physical dimensions of your weapon can actually give you some reach! So we use a 40-50 foot ladder. Because it's awesome. |
| #6danduAug 07, 2009 1:40:04 | Foreign devil! You Western barbarians shame the memory of the Monkey King! You must use a Sizing quarterstaff. |
| #7felgorothAug 07, 2009 10:03:22 | It actually has to be a three section staff that can change it's size if you go by actual beliefs |
| #8chimerusAug 07, 2009 10:14:09 | huh i always thought it was a staff as well. interesting! Ok Drunken master prc! was there a feat for improving improvised weapons? And whats a good base class? besides monk. and i see the speed inceases and unarmed damage are fixed, so what do you think about using a small race? |
| #9phaedrusxyAug 07, 2009 12:49:22 | Add 5 levels of Shou Disciple to be able to make a Flurry of Blows with anything. |
| #10felgorothAug 07, 2009 12:56:45 | well it is an actual staff, it unscrews or pulls apart to become a 3 section staff though |
| #11chimerusAug 07, 2009 16:24:30 | oh wait drunken master is different in complete warrior, not fixed speed up... |
| #12chimerusAug 07, 2009 21:35:30 | looked at Shou Disciple and Drunken master, If I take 5 levels of shou disciple and then take say 5 levels of drunken master, 5th lvl shou give flurry any melee weapon, 5 lvls of Drunken gives improvised weapon, reach = length of weapon, and damge = unarmed +d8. Sooo.....can I do something silly like wield a 50 foot ladder as a 50 ft reach weapon, flurry of blows with it, and deal damage equal to my unarmed attack + 1d8? |
| #13danduAug 07, 2009 22:33:16 | And pray you don't meet anything ethereal. |
| #14rungardAug 11, 2009 14:30:07 | you can try something diferent with a "City Brawler" barbarian from dragon magazine 349 it has I/unnarmed strike and TWF at first lvl and can use improvised weapons with a -2 on attak only and also rage of course, maybe some wirlwind rage from UA its diferent and don't looks like a monk but you have all of these to start from first lvl. |
| #15chimerusAug 11, 2009 19:38:48 | sounds interesting, did they reprint the city barbarian not in dragon? don't have those. |
