Secondly, inside the grapple The rules are quite specific on how a character handles itself in a grapple, or otherwise something that attacks like a character, but natural attacks raise odd questions How many attacks does a creature with natural attacks get in a grapple? Or consequently actions for that matter. For a player or otherwise weapon based, you essentially receive an action for every attack you have from base attack bonus How does this function for a monster with natural weapons? for example a creature with only a bite but 13 BaB while another creature has 5 attacks but 3 BaB does the high bab mean more actions thus somehow getting to act more in a grapple than out of it, or do you simply do your full round of natural attacks or do you just get one regardless pending special attacks but also leading to how many otherwise actions in a grapple u get to use for pinning, breaking a grapple, etc. |

Google for this: "all about grappling" "rules of the game" site:wizards.com Especially part four deals with monsters. I hope it will answer at least some of your questions. My impressions: firstly: * if you have BAB left, you should be able to have further attack actions * e.g. fighter 6 full attacks, grapples with the first attack, can deal damage with second attack * gets complicated for TWF/flurry/stuff, I am not sure how that works secondly: this is answered in fourth article: For example, a dire tiger (BAB +12) grappling a PC would be allowed three separate attempts to damage its opponent, escape from the grapple, or pin its opponent; the second would take a –5 penalty on the grapple check, while the third would take a –10 penalty. |
