#1 post_ironic Feb 27, 2009 12:15:53	I'm making a Core Only character for the Coliseum. I expect to get thoroughly spanked it to be a learning experience. I want to make a reasonably optmized character, but since I expect to get badly beaten anyway, I'd like my first character to be memorable and fun to play. After poring over a number of options, I've narrowed the list down to: Fighter/Ranger/Psychic Warrior type PrCing into Warmind/Elocator. (Alternately, a Wilder/Paladin.) Cleric: lots of options. Considering Strength,War, Luck, Travel, Knowledge, and Magic domains. Wizard: Transmuter or Conjurer (Cliched, I know.) Druid. Frankly, many of these choices seemed kind of vanilla to me, though I suppose that's simply the nature of Core. I'm toying with the idea of playing a Psionic Druid of some sort, maybe Xeph or Elan, but I'm concerned about feat starvation. Oh, and I've never played a psionic character before. Any suggestions? The wackier and more outlandish your suggestions, the better.

You will get responses where they tell you “make a cleric” or “make a bard”. You may also be told a key skill or feat to pick up. If on the other hand you supply a more complete character build, you will get more focused critique. For example if you give the third level build of a dwarf. You will get more exact suggestions. Like how many points to put into what skills or why to take one feat over another. Q: Well, what details, about my character, should I include? A: Well include any things you have already decided on, like class or race or feats. Also include things you are thinking about and make sure the reader can tell the difference. Here is a basic list: Race and Class Stats if you have them or point buy if you do it that way. Level to build at or if you want a level by level build. Concept –like if you want to make a spell caster specializing in touch spells, or a trip attack specialist. What books you have access to. What is the 'Coliseum' and what details are there? Q: Aside the details on what kind of character I want to make, what other information should I include? A: Include any relevant house rules, also include what books you do or do not use. Also include any relevant campaign/DM info. Like “the DM hates dwarves” or “we are adventuring in the under dark.”
#3 post_ironic Feb 27, 2009 12:49:35	Thanks, I've read the forum stickies. I'm not necessarily even looking for optimized or minmaxed builds, just interesting suggestions given Core's limitations. I'm open to anything, I'm just in need of ideas.
