#1 symphonic_tempest Sep 14, 2009 18:49:45	Hey all, Been discussing a potential PC with my DM, and can't seem to pin down the rules on incorporeality and force effects.  I'm pretty sure force effects apply even against touch attacks when it comes to incorporeality or etherealness, but we can't seem to find rule references for either?   Can somone provide some page references for how incorporeality and etherealness interact with force effects?  Thanks much.
#2 dandu Sep 14, 2009 22:39:58	Look at the spell descriptions of Mage Armor and Shield. They say that they apply against attacks by incoporeals.
#3 suzerain Sep 15, 2009 8:18:31	Everything you need to know about the incorporeal subtype. They can't pass through force effects and force effects like mage armor (or magic missile) work against them normally. Ethereal creatures can't affect objects on the material plane at all, unless they leave the ethereal plane. Force effects (and abjurations) cast from the material plane affect them normally. It's pretty much a disadvantage to be ethereal, if you ask me. Well, except for the invisibility and "going through walls" thing, anyway...

Force effects don't apply to all touch attacks (in general). They do apply to all incorporeal touch attacks, though.
