Apr 26, 2008 16:50:29 For an upcoming PbP game I decided to play a bard. I've never played a bard so I would like some input. Thanks

SRD and PHB 2, Arms and Equipment are allowed
40 point build
level 7
standard starting gold +10,000 (total of 29,000 I believe)

Race: Gnome
Str 8 (10-2)
Dex 14
Con 16 (14+2)
Int 16
Wis 8
Cha 21 (18+1+2) (2 from Cloak of Cha)

Feats: Combat Ex, Imp Disarm, Leadership

Apr 27, 2008 16:55:00 Should I not go with Combat Ex and Imp Trip since I am of small size and have a negative strength mod?

Apr 27, 2008 16:59:42 I'd scrap them.

What do you want your Bard to concentrate on? Buffing? Casting? Melee? Archery is a decent way too, but I am not sure how well can it be carried out using only core rulebooks. Seeing that you have Leadership buffing might be the way to go. If you pick a caster as your cohort have him summon stuff and then buff them into oblivion. Proceed to pwn.

Apr 27, 2008 22:00:29 maybe spell focus(enchantment) and possibly greater spell focus?

embrace the support role, you won't do much else with a core bard... buff, sling enchantments, and maybe fire a bow.
