#1 Monomachy Mar 29, 2008 17:30:45	Howdy, guys. This is a build a buddy and I came up with today. I'm planning on playing it in an upcoming campaign, starting at level 5. The campaign will be my first, given which I'm obviously not the most experienced builder or player of characters; consequently, any advice is much appreciated! My stats are as follows - Str: 14, Dex: 14, Con: 15, Int: 16, Wis: 14, Cha: 14. Human Wizard 5/Mindbender 1/Incantatrix 3/Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil 7/Incantatrix +4 Flaws: Murky-Eyed, Inattentive Traits: Absent-Minded, Focused [Character Level ~ Class Taken ~ Feat(s) and/or Class Feature(s) Taken] 1 ~ Wizard ~ ACF: Fighter Bonus Feats, ACF: Domain Wizard (Abjuration), Spell Mastery, Uncanny Forethought, Iron Will, Skill Focus (Spellcraft), Improved Initiative, Hummingbird Familiar 2 ~ Wizard 3 ~ Wizard ~ Extend Spell 4 ~ Wizard 5 ~ Wizard ~ ACF: Spontaneous Divination 6 ~ Mindbender ~ Spell Focus (Abjuration) 7 ~ Incantatrix ~ Quicken Spell 8 ~ Incantatrix 9 ~ Incantatrix ~ Greater Spell Focus (Abjuration) 10 ~ Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil 11 ~ Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil 12 ~ Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil ~ Mindsight 13 ~ Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil 14 ~ Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil 15 ~ Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil ~ Ability Focus (Warding) 16 ~ Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil 17 ~ Incantatrix ~ Persistent Spell 18 ~ Incantatrix ~ Heighten Spell-Like Ability (Warding) 19 ~ Incantatrix 20 ~ Incantatrix ~ Reach Spell I'm trying to make a Wizard who can defend himself well and who's always ready for anything!
#2 bluedsteel Mar 31, 2008 0:20:57	Well, you're using two of the cheesiest prestige classes in existence, so you're off to a good start... :D Seriously, I'd suggest changing your feats up a bit and pushing your build back a level, or eliminating a level... probably Incantatrix or Mindbender... to allow lvls 4-6 to be Master Specialist (Complete Mage). It'll net you several feats you're currently having to spend open slots on for free, permitting you more feats total. Alternately, it'll let you get rid of those flaws... I don't have problems with those flaws as such, but what kind of character is both murky-eyed and inattentive and is still "always ready for anything!"??? Don't sacrifice the flavor of your character to get more feats, or you'll find the character boring. I'm having a brain fart... which book is Ability Focus in? I can't remember if IotSV's warding abilities qualify.

As far as Master Specialist goes, I'm really not keen on actually specialising; I'd like to stay as versatile as possible within my theme, hence Spontaneous Divination and Uncanny Forethought Vis a vis the murky eyes and attention issues, I'm seeing that more as the arrogance of a mage and a telepath than an actual physical disability or the like; that angle mostly kicks in with Mindsight, but I can't take flaws at level 12, so.. Ability Focus is in one of the MMs, and as a spell-like ability, I'm pretty sure the Initiate's warding qualifies.
