| #1wazaboSep 15, 2008 12:32:56 | I need help making Soulbow, since it's the first time I look at the Psionic handbook. The race is quite strange. I'm playing a Quori (hope it's the same in English as Italian) who is controlling an Inspired. The physical stats are the Inspiered ones while the Mental stats are the ones of the Quori. I have 32 BP for the Inspired and 10 BP for the Quori (Only for mental stats) The Quori gives +6 int +8 wis +6 cha. I need a 10 level build. Be in mind that the Inspired Cha must me equal or greater of the Quori cha (minimum 14) and for feats and skill I have to consider only the base stats of the Inspired, since the Quori will start controlling him at level 10. Manuals I can use: Core (Not SRD just 3 core books) Extened psionic handbook Complete Psionic Eberron campaign settings Secrets of Sarlona. The build I was thinking about is: Ranger 2 - Soulknife 3 - Soulbow 5. I can add the Quori skill ranks with the Inspired ones (You can have 22 ranks in some skills) |
| #2wazaboSep 16, 2008 14:53:45 | Ok guys, I think you didn't understand much, (me neither tbfh, got a crazy master this time!) I just need a 10 level feat progression for a soulbow human with these manuals: Core (Not SRD just 3 core books) Extened psionic handbook Complete Psionic Eberron campaign settings Secrets of Sarlona. 32 Buy points. Cha must be 14, Sag 10(Don't worry much about it the Quori will boost it to 22~24) and some int for skills would be nice also. Hope you can help me. |

You'll find something. iirc - Soulknife 4 / Soulbow 1 was one combo; Soulknife 2 / Soulbow 3 was the other. Everything else was optimizing. If you don't mind a little change ... Mind's Eye on the wizards.com site, has a Psychic Warrior substitute, that duplicates a Mind Blade. But it can be any weapon. So you'd have an Inspired Quori PsyWar (soulknife) ranged. Farther afield: Get the Soulbow with as few levels as possible, then take Ardent with Practised Manifester. You'll get to 9th level powers that way with at least Ardent 13, and not be weak in any way. Mind's Eye is your friend. |

Soulbound Warrior just gives you an improved capability to use Call Weaponry to have a scaling weapon similar to the Samurai, as it's still an actual weapon, and not a Mind Blade. |
| #5wazaboSep 20, 2008 6:32:20 | I don't think I can use any material out of the books I mentioned before. Do you think I should go without any Ranger level? Might be very hard getting 13 levels of ardent, cause that character as LA +4(Calculated by the master), so yeah we have 10HD but we are considered level 14 characters. That means no level 9 powers at all, if not at epic levels. My conecern was more about feat selection. In the buld I mentioned before: Ranger 2(Skills and free feats) Soulknife 3 Soulbow 5, what kind of feat progression do you suggest? Considering I cannot take Zen archery. Thanks for replies thought. |
| #6blargney_the_secondSep 20, 2008 16:13:28 | I'm looking forward to seeing a finalized build for this character. I'm DMing a fight againts Inspired soon, and could really use a soulbow NPC. -blarg |
| #7carnivoreSep 21, 2008 8:17:17 | for Soulbow all you really need is Soulknife 2... so id suggest this: Monk 2/ Soulknife 2/ Fighter 1/ Soulbow 5 also since you have Secrets of Sarlona... you can Boost the Monk stuff at the same time .... like this: i dont know how exactly you are doing your stats... maybe you could just post what you have in mind and we could offer suggestions on adjustments Monk 1 .......................... Monastic training(Soulbow)(Monk bonus:Eberron feat),Point Blank Shot Monk 2 .......................... Combat Reflexes(monk bonus) Soulknife 1 ..................... Weapon Focus(Mindblade/Mindarrow)(Soulknife bonus)/Wildtalent(Soulknife bonus) Soulknife 2 Fighter 1 ........................ Rapid Shot(Fighter bonus) Soulbow 1 ....................... Psionic meditation/Psionic Shot(Soulbow bonus) Soulbow 2 Soulbow 3 ...................... Greater Psionic Shot(Soulbow bonus) Soulbow 4 ...................... Tashalatora(Soulbow) Soulbow 5 ....................... Precise Shot(Soulbow bonus) if you can use Zen Archery and focus only on Wisdom(Wis to Attack, Wis to Damage, Wis to AC)... it would be great.. but it is in Complete Warrior... you can also find it in Crystalkeep get a Monks Belt as soon as possible... thus Unarmed Damage and AC as if you were Monk 12th(AC= Base 10+Wis+Dex+2, Unarmed Damage = 2d6) Intuitive Attack would also be nice... Wis to Attack with Unarmed, but it is better just to focus on Mindarrows :D |
| #8wazaboSep 21, 2008 11:16:06 | Uhmm, Thank you! About stats I was thinking: Inspired: STR:11 DEX:17 CON:14 INT:10 WIS: 10 CHA: 14 I can leave Wis to 8, but it looks too cheese to me.. Quori: INT: 14 (8) WIS: 24 (16) CHA: 14 (8) So in total: STR: 11 DEX: 19 (+2 4° & 8°) CON: 14 INT: 14 WIS: 24 CHA: 14 Without items I cannot use Zen archery, it would the best feat ever for this pg but I can't use it. Getting a monk's belt shouldn't be a problem, my gp limit is the same for a 14th level character. |
| #9carnivoreSep 21, 2008 14:26:43 | since you are actually an ECL 14 character... you would benifit more if you were just : 1)Empty Vessel (LA+1) 2)or Kalashtar(LA+0) because the +4 LA really hurts..... for example, if you used Kalashtar it would look like this: Monk 2/ Soulknife 2/ Fighter 2/ Soulbow 8 Monk 1 .......................... Monastic training(Soulbow)(Monk bonus:Eberron feat),Point Blank Shot Monk 2 .......................... Combat Reflexes(monk bonus) Soulknife 1 ..................... Weapon Focus(Mindblade/Mindarrow)(Soulknife bonus)/Wildtalent(Soulknife bonus) Soulknife 2 Fighter 1 ........................ Rapid Shot(Fighter bonus) Soulbow 1 ....................... Psionic meditation/Psionic Shot(Soulbow bonus) Soulbow 2 Soulbow 3 ...................... Greater Psionic Shot(Soulbow bonus) Soulbow 4 ...................... Tashalatora(Soulbow) Soulbow 5 ....................... Fell Shot(Soulbow bonus) Fighter 2 ........................ Precise Shot(fighter bonus) Soulbow 6 ...................... Return Shot Soulbow 7 ...................... Many Shot Soulbow 8 although the stats might not be as good..... the extra HD, BAB, saves and Class Abilties would make up for it :D |
| #10wazaboSep 21, 2008 15:26:46 | Well, it's not like I can chose the race. We are all playing that kind of character. In the end we are a party of Quori. :D Our mission is to protect in someway the plane of dreams. Be in mind that the Quori is a 6 hit dice outsider. That gives me 3 more feats, and 10*9 skill ranks (keeping 14 base INT) that i can add to the base character. This means i can go up to 22 ranks on a single skill if both the Quori and inspired got max ranks on it. If I could chose the race I would be playing a pixie :D |
| #11blargney_the_secondSep 29, 2008 3:08:35 | Three things: 1) I discovered in Secrets of Sarlona that the Inspired vessels do not need to have more charisma than the quori possessing them. That restriction only applies to pureblood humans. In fact, the vessels in that book heavily dump-statted charisma. 2) With the way quoris share their skill ranks with their hosts, you can get some seriously early entry on PrCs with only skill-based requirements! An Inspired Soulknife 2/Soulbow 8 is entirely possible if the quori has the right skill points. 3) Shiba protector... -blarg |
