Ok, here's the basic info you'll need.  Homebrew campaign.  I'll have 20 Intelligence to start with at level 1.

Any spells of necromancy (The school) are illegal in the campaign world.  (Illegal as in against the law, i could still cast them)

Which sucks (I'm so going to miss Enervation), but does give me an easy drop.  Add in Enchantment, and Evocation, and you've got a good combo for Focused Specialist.

So the Plan is: Foc. Spec Abjurer 3/Master Spec 7/IotSV 7/Whatever 3

Of course, this brings up: 3 spell slots per level for Abjuration spells.  I'm not entirely convinced there are that many good Abjuration spells per level to be prepared.  (Read Treatmonks "God's Tools".   Yup)
Would I be better off, paying the Extra two feats (Greater Spell Foc: Abj, and Skill Focus: Spellcraft) and being a Transmuter or Conjurer?  Illuisonist?  Diviner, and gaining back Evo or Ench? Or Going normal specialist and unbanning Evocation or Enchantment?

Bonus Question: I have the following stats: 12, 16, 16, 18, 14, 14.  (Good Rolls)  If i skip out on playing a Wizard, what's another powerful class I can play, that may suffer from MAD normally?  (note: I primarily play Arcane Casters.  Beguiler, Wizard, Sorceror.  So, I'm inexperienced in others.)

Yeah, I'd go in as something besides a Focused Abjurer. Focused Transmuter or Conjurer is better, and Iot7V is worth the feats.

Conjurer4/Master Conjurer1/Incantatrix4/Veil7/ArchmageX/IncantatrixX/Full CasterX.

Veils protect you enough that Abjurations mean little.  You need the oomph an offensive caster provides.

The bad thing about that is that if you go focused specialist, you lose four schools of magic... Unless you're also dipping into Shadowcraft Mage for 3 levels (and making two of the banned schools Conjuration and Evocation), that's a bit much for me to stomach...

I advise against a Focused Specialist as an Incantatrix.  You lose too much.

I like conjurer for the variant in PHB2 (I think it is Abrupt Jaunt).
