Is there another good race for a marshal other than petal?

Aug 17, 2009 4:29:10 So far i have used petals for booster type cohorts and i find them both survivable in AC and hp as well as good as a booster/scout (motivate dexterity is good).

However the equivalent of +2 LA sucks somewhat and since leadersbhip cohorts have a max of 1 level below you (improved cohort feat), i was wondering if there was another race useful in the same scenerio

Aug 17, 2009 4:47:13 Venerable Dragonwrought Kobold with no LA adjustment perhaps?

You can look at the Kobold variants from Unearthed Arcana to find something that may fit better.

Aquatic (+2 dex, -4 str and -2 con)
Arctic (+2 dex, -2 str, -2 con and -2 wis)
Desert (+2 dex, -4 str and -2 wis)
Jungle (+2 dex, -4 str and -2 int)

Being a Venerable Dragonwrought Kobold grants you +3 to Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma with no age penalties.

Aug 17, 2009 7:12:06 I made a dragonwrought normal kobold but found the kobold had worse hp, saves, AC and charisma even though he had 2 levels on the petal. using the desert or jungle variant might boost hp though the jungle variant's int penalty would reduce his role as a skills monkey.

Here's the stats of the 7th level kobold booster and a 5th level petal booster i made, both on 32 points

Dragonwrought Bard 4/Marshal 3
Str: 4
Int: 18
Wis: 11
Dex: 14
Con: 10
Cha: 22
AC: 14
Hp: 28

Petal Bard 2/Marshal 3
Str: 2
Int: 14
Wis: 10
Dex: 22
Con: 18
Cha: 27
AC: 18
Hp: 43

Overall the kobold did not fare very well on the survivability scale. Is there another possible race that could be good for marshal?

I understand this isn't relevent to the question, but it's something you might want to consider...

but Flight, Greater Invisibility, DR 10/Cold Iron, SR 18, and Spell-like abilities make up for the Low HP

Aug 17, 2009 12:27:42 Fiddled with the pixie and i must say i am impressed. Its a good race for a marshal/skill monkey though the hp is a concern as it does not give much protection vs common area effect spells like fireball. But other than that its very good with a 5/cold iron increase over the petal, and very useful Sp abilities.

Being greedy here but is there another race like the pixie but with either a con bonus rather than wis bonus or a lower LA?
