| #2sinfire_titanJun 28, 2008 21:53:22 | It seems we do not have a Justicar handbook. Sorry we can't be of much help on this, but it happens. Someone might do it, if they feel like it, or you could ask for help on analyzing the class. |
| #3CantripNJun 28, 2008 23:11:50 | It's a class that looks good on paper, but since so many things are immune to non-lethal damage or flanking, their abilities have limited use in your everyday dungeon crawl. |
| #4phaxiJul 01, 2008 6:47:51 | Improved hog-tie and Death Blow (CAdv p106) is the only Justicar optimization I know of. |
| #5surrealJul 01, 2008 22:00:31 | You could combine it with Bloodhound (CV) and deal a lot of Str damage with crippling strikes. I have a build somewhere that I can try to dig up. |
| #6lyndisAug 25, 2008 19:43:26 | double posted |
| #7lyndisAug 25, 2008 19:43:25 | Sure, I'd like for you to dig up that build definitely. |
| #8surrealAug 26, 2008 0:40:16 | I can't seem to find the build now, but you basically combined Bloodhound 6 and Justicar 3 along with a psionic base for Strength of my Enemy to do about 4 Str damage per hit. The psionics also opens up an easy pounce enabler. A touch of monk also opens up Weakening Touch, which saps another 6 Str but only for one attack. Toss in flurry, TWF and haste, a quick alpha strike should be able to do 20 Str damage rather easily. |
| #9vangrueAug 26, 2008 0:59:06 | The Justiciar seemed like a fun concept to me as well, and I know I played around with a for-fun build a while ago, but I can't find it either. Not sure even if I worked it out fully with all the feats and items either, so it probably wouldn't be much use anyway. Still, if anyone can provide other builds (preferably not having to dip into psionics/ToB/Incarnum) and prove it to be more generally useful, I'd love to take another stab at the class, maybe even in an actual play situation. |
| #10playswithfireAug 26, 2008 17:25:37 | I like the Justicar, particularly in gestalt. One of the problems for me in working on a Justicar character is that I always want to use bear totem barbarian for the extra +4 to grapple checks while raging, but that won't work, because a lawful barbarian can't rage...unless there's a way around this I'm missing. I was going to say Half-Giant Bear Totem Barbarian 5/Bloodhound 5/Justicar 5/War Mind 4 (not necessarily in that order) would be a good Full BAB (other than the LA) Strength-draining grappler. I guess it might also work with Ranger. I've seen work elsewhere on a version that uses Factotum to maximize the Use Rope check and get INT to Grapple checks instead of Strength and I've started work on one of those. I'll post here if I get anywhere with it. |
| #11playswithfireAug 27, 2008 0:14:28 | An attempt at a 20th level skill-monkey Justicar The build: Show Variants used: fractional BAB and saves Half-humans and human-like races from Races of Destiny Race: Half-Elf |
| #12empirateAug 28, 2008 10:13:00 | For the Str damage build: Thayan Slaver gets Crippling Strike, too, at 5th level. Entry Reqs are not that steep, just skills you need anyway (in a Justiciar build, that is) and a bit of Sneak Attack damage. You get more SA dice with TS, and you can deal nonlethal SA damage: Synergizes with the Justiciar's Nonlethal Strike. Not a bad class on its own, either: a few nice spells on the list, a good skill list, Death Attack-like paralyzation effect, and Break Will (obtained at 2nd level) allows you to do Wis damage with Intimidation checks. Never Outnumbered, anyone? |
