Kobold Marshal - Downloaded from the Wizards Community, all coding removed by Solauren

#1 qoshea Mar 22, 2009 9:33:54	I'm currently in a game where I am playing a Kobold Marshal, currently level 8. I've been considering going to the prestige class Dragon Lord for the flavor and the extra auras, which I should be able to use at the same time as the Marshal auras. The main problem with the Dragon Lord is that it does not allow me to advance Diplomacy, which is rather important considering I'm the only one in the group with the skill. Their idea of Diplomacy is hit it again. I've read the various Optimize Marshal threads (both of them) and while interesting, don't do much to help me out. The character's primary goal is to either avoid fights through Diplomacy or scare the crud out of his opponents via Intimidate and Frightful Presence and make them surrender or run away. Dragon Lord does have Intimidate as a class skill and has some nice features, but I'm second guessing the decision. And yes, I know that Handle Animal and Ride are sub-optimal choices, but I know there was reason for taking them at some point, even if I can't remember it now. :D Here is the current build: Orix the Hammer Race: Kobold Class: Marshal Ability Scores, with racial adjustments: Str 12 (+2) Dex 10 (+0) Con 13 (+1) Int 12 (+1) Wis 12 (+1) Cha 18 (+4) HP: 55; AC 22 (Half-Plate + Heavy Steel Shield + Size + Scales) Fort / Ref / Will: 6 / 2 / 6 Skills: Diplomacy (+23; 11 ranks + CHA + Aura + Medal of Gallantry + Skill Focus) Handle Animal (+19; 11 ranks + CHA + Aura) Intimidate (+19; 11 ranks + CHA + Aura) Knowledge: Tactics (+12; 11 ranks + INT) Ride (+11) Feats: Skill Focus (Diplomacy); EWP (Maul); Leadership (Required by DM); Frightening Presence Class Abilities: Minor Auras: +CHA bonus Master of Tactics Motivate Charisma Motivate Dexterity Motivate Strength Major Auras: +2 Motivate Care Resistance Magic Items: Medal of Gallantry (+2 Diplomacy; -2 Bluff) Rearguard's Cape (Increase aura bonus +2 while outnumbered or for 10 rounds) Bronzewood Maul +1 Restful Crystal

#3 hsien Mar 26, 2009 9:57:16	Although it caosts a feat, have you considered Able Learner? Build wise: Not familiar w/ Drago Lord but Dragon Shaman & Bard mix well with Marshall, as does the PrC Mythic Exemplar (CoChamp)

The character is already 8th level in the game. Just looked up the Mythic Exemplar and holy crap that looks good. Only problem is having to wait two levels to go into the class. Can get History 3 with my next level. That might work, just have to talk to the DM about changing it to fit the campaign world a bit. Thanks for the idea!
#5 qoshea Mar 29, 2009 8:13:32	No Mythic Exemplar, due to the campaign world backstory would have to be initiated into the order and we can only that in the main city of the campaign and we're not going to be back there for maybe a year or two game time. Looks like it's straight Marshal.
