If you aren't interested in that, there is a feat in Races of Eberron (p 111) called Master Linguist that only requires that you speak at least 4 languages, and it does this: Each time you gain a level (including the level you gained to take this feat), you learn an additional language. |
| #3Tempest_StormwindFeb 28, 2011 23:56:16 | You learn one language per "rank" of Speak Language you buy. Like any skill, you can buy as many ranks per level as you want, so long as you pay the price in skill points. Speak Language costs the same as any other skill - 1 skill point per rank if it's a class skill, 2 skill points per rank if it's a cross-class. Speak Language is cross-class for virtually every class; it's a class skill for bards in core and a few others in expanded books. Most notably, the Changeling race (Eberron) has Speak Language as a class skill regardless of what class they play. The effective number of languages is "all of them" - between Tongues and Comprehend Languages, you can speak with every languaged creature on its own. To say nothing about Mindlink (psionic ability), Rary's Telepathic Bond, or the Mindbender's telepathy. If you *need* more languages, Master Linguist (as Tiejaz suggested) is the way to go. Personally, though, I'd consider a few spells to be a lesser cost than a few skill points, which are a lesser cost than a full feat. To say nothing about one of the weakest Epic feats ever published.... |
